The RCE Roma will host the Xray Challenge Italy on the weekend of the 2nd of June. The race is run in 1/10th touring stock 13.5T blinky, touring modified and 1/18 scale classes and you can find all information about the race on the hosting’s club website by clicking here.

Round 2 of the JConcepts Indoor National Series got underway in Dallas, Texas, today with drivers taking advantage of a day of open practice at Mike’s Hobby Shop which plays host to the ‘Spring Indoor Nationals’ for a second year at its impressive and extremely large facility. With entries up on last year, the event has also attracted a much more competitive field setting the stage for an exciting weekend of racing which is set to get underway properly tomorrow with the first of three rounds of qualifying.

Team Associated introduce the Qualifier Series Apex Mini Touring cars. The ready-to-run cars base on the iconic RC18 chassis and feature a 4WD shaft drivetrain, full ball bearings, symmetrical lower suspension arms, adjustable fluid-filled shock absorbers and a 370-size high-performance motor. Available with blue or yellow ‘Niteline’ body shells the kits include a 2.4GHz radio system, NiMH battery and suitable charger.

After extensive testing A Main Hobbies has opted to replace the high-bite clay at Silver Dollar RC Raceway with a local soil chosen by world-renown track builder, Joey Christensen. The decision to use a local soil in lieu of the hard-packed clay will benefit racers who will experience less tire wear and more impressive track features. According to Joey Christensen, “the new soil was necessary to build killer layouts and to be worthy of the SDRCR facility.” The new surface will be easier to shape and change for track layouts.” Christensen will also design and build the SDRCR track for the Off-Road Challenge and upcoming 1/10-scale Electric Pre-Worlds. With the ROAR Nationals and IFMAR World Championships heading to Silver Dollar RC Raceway it was imperative to find a soil that would result in the best possible experience for racers who compete. As a result of the existing clay being removed and new dirt being trucked in, the Silver Dollar Off-Road Challenge will now be moved to May 17th-19th. A Main Hobbies’ CEO, Kendall Bennett has the following to say about the changes:
We want the racers who frequent SDRC Raceway to enjoy the surface and layouts we create. We also needed a soil that was easier to manage. If racers experience less tire wear, and are able to drive on several exciting layouts throughout the year, they’ll have more fun. Arrowmax release this 14-piece honeycomb tool set including a handy tool bag. The set contains 1.5mm to 3.0mm Allen and 2.0mm to 3.0mm ball drivers, 3.0mm and 5.8mm flat head as well as 3.5mm and 5.8mm Philips screwdrivers and is rounded up by 5.0mm to 7.0mm nut drivers. Italian company World Racing Car introduce new chemicals in the form of a tire additive, a tire cleaner and silicone shock oils. The general usage additive as well as the cleaner come in handy bottles while the shock fluids are supplied in 40ml easy-to-squeeze bottles and viscosities of 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000.

The 2013 edition of the Italian Job Race will be held at the weekend of the 2rd of September at the D&R track in Castelnuovo Calcea. Run in buggy F1 and F2 category the race is a nitro buggy only meeting with no truggy or electric class. To sign up for the race and for more information click here.
Shepherd driver Chris Steele was the man to beat at the first round of the Irish National 1/10 nitro on-road Championship as he set a blistering TQ run with his Shepherd Velox V10. Hot on his heels followed Shepherd driver Darren Gibb also using a Velox V10 as well as Anthony Fitzpatrick, Colm Gaffney, Jacek Zadrozny and Stephen O’Connor which were close on pace all day. The 30 minutes final saw a great start from pole sitter Chris defending his position up front. In the following laps Darren was trying to keep up but the gap increased lap by lap. Anthony, Colm and Jacek were in a close battle at the start until Jacek ran into engine trouble. This separated the field a lot and in the following also Colm ran into trouble and had to retire. After 30 minutes Chris Steele took the win some four laps ahead of Darren Gibb with Anothony Fitzpatrick completing the podium.
