JConcepts 1951 Ford Panel truck MT body shell

JConcepts have introduced their all-new 1951 Ford Panel truck “Grandma” body shell for the Axial SMT10. One of the most feared vehicles in monster truck racing during the late 1980’s is now known as “Grandma”, the 1951 Ford Panel truck was mean, a little green and always known for the most amazing single qualifying passes in the history of monster truck racing. JConcepts went to work creating the 1951 truck by once again starting from scratch to redefine a generation design from the golden years. The hood of the truck makes its point with a swooping radius and raised badging while the front fenders boast a large set-back to the hood which makes that undeniable stand as a 50’s panel truck. The stand-up cab screams retro while the side windows are small but large enough for a scale driver to take a look outside. The body line along the side separates the sides to break-up the height between the fenders and top of the dome. The rear fender flare kicks-out in a vicious way to protect chassis components while giving the rear of the vehicle an almost car-like flare. The Ford truck has built-in running boards featuring a diamond-plate look which is found on the real monster while the wheel well openings are slightly enlarged to accommodate a large assortment of jumbo tires. The front grille is made as a secondary part to get the utmost detail and 3-D-design which can be painted or decorated off the vehicle for the most convenience. After trimming, the front grille can be attached into the recessed portion on the body as the finishing touch to this ultra tough and memorable piece. The body comes clear, including window masks, a detailed Ford decal sheet and it fits Axial’s SMT10 truck.

Pinisch & Hönigl win at Austrian 1/10th Buggy Nats Rd1

Round 1 of the Austrian 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the MRC Oberaich track. Although rather big for a 1/10th scale race the track is among the favourite of most drivers with the natural dirt surface being very challenging but a lot of fun. Saturday started off with a track that got really bumpy but also offered high traction yet overnight rain changed things massively, leading to much lower grip but a smoother track. After some very close racing in the 2WD mains, Peter Pinisch (Team Associated) walked away with the win from Xray’s Hupo Hönigl while Stefan Pfeiffhofer (Team Associated) had to settle for 3rd overall.

Jarno Pijpers wins Dutch 1/8th Nitro Buggy Nats Rd2

Round 2 of the Dutch 1/8th Nitro Buggy National Championship was held at the tight and technical RMCA Almelo astro turf track. The main final saw Bart Mullink lead the way until an electronic failure put things to a halt for him. This made way for Sander van Genechten, Jordy Velder and Jarno Pijers who made up the top 3 at that time. Later Sander made a mistake that promoted Jarno into the lead while behind him Sander and Jordy were in a fight for the runner-up spot. This allowed Jarno to open a gap that he would hold onto until the chequered flag. Jordy would ultimately come in 2nd from Sander in 3rd.

Martin Bayer sweeps Czech 1/8th Off-road Nats Rd1

The opening round of the Czech 1/8th Off-road National Championship was held in Kolin. Right from the start Xray’s Martin Bayer looked like the man to beat as he set fast laps right from the practice sessions on. Saturday ad the weather was much colder which resulted in near zero traction but this did not stop Martin from being a league of his own, taking the TQs in both the 1/8th Nitro and E-Buggy classes. Xray team mate Kaja Novotny would line up in 2nd in both classes.

Pro-Line Positron 2.2″/3.0″ short course tyres

Coming soon from Pro-Line is the Positron 2.2″/3.0″ short course tyre. Designed from the ground up with a futuristic directional tread design, the Positron delivers true next generation performance with improved grip and corner speed on indoor clay tracks. The tread design pays homage to the Electron and ION tyre before it with the two centre pins boxed in by connected bars for a familiar Pro-Line signature look. From there the connected bars shoot off at angles that have been specifically designed to provide maximum forward bite combined with exceptional corner speed and high durability. The Positron is directional, which adds another tuning option for the racers always looking for that extra edge since it will perform differently depending on which direction it is run.
