The Michal Orlowski Column – Edition No.2

You all loved his first column so we are delighted that Michal Orlowski has somehow found time in his busy schedule to give us another great column as an insight into his world as Schumacher’s star factory driver.  Once again we’ll let Michal take it away and tell you in his own style what has been going on over the last two months….. ‘It has been a while since my last update here.  We have been hard at work with the team to finish off the winter season on a high.  We attended numerous events between February and April, which I will tell you all about, emphasising the struggles and how we could overcome them together.  After attending the Mibosport Cup in early February, it was time to switch back to buggy mode.  For the last few years, the MK GP event has been one of the mostly anticipated off-road races of the winter season with hundreds of drivers participating, but more importantly thousands of people coming to watch us race RC cars.  The event is held in the MK shopping centre in Milton Keynes, UK, home to the Redbull F1 team.  The event is organised by the Silverstone Club, who hosts weekly club races and a winter series at a smaller venue.  This gave us the chance to test on the unique carpet the MK GP crew decided to use since 2023.

RC Maker FlySky Noble GeoCarbon Base

RC Maker has released a new base accessory for the increasingly popular Noble range of radios from FlySky.   The GeoCarbon Base for Noble range drastically reduces the weight of your radio when not using the battery base, whilst allowing it to be stood up.  The balance can be tuned by inserting one or two optional brass weights to adjust the weight bias of the radio.  The Base effortlessly clips on and off for when you need to charge the radio.  Anti slip pads in the carbon base stop the radio from sliding around on smooth surfaces.  The Base is constructed from 100% Matte 6k Carbon Fibre with RC Maker’s signature GeoCarbon styling and chamfered edges.

Hong Nor ‘Thick’ SPL Brake Pad for 1:8 GT

Reigning World Champion 1:8 GT chassis manufacturer Hong Nor has released a new ‘Thick’ SPL Brake Pad for use in the category.  As the speed of GT cars keeps getting faster, brakes are wearing out more quickly.  To cope with this problem, the Hong Nor has develops a brand new thicker brake pad so that drivers can achieve better racing performance.

Team Associated SR10M Dirt Oval Team Kit

Often overlooked in the mainstream RC, dirt track racing has its following and Team Associated has released a new 1:10 car for dirt, clay and pavement-racing excitement in the form of the SR10M Dirt Oval Team Kit.  With competitions held on oval tracks with a surface of dirt or clay at locations throughout the United States, it’s easy to see why everyone enjoys gathering to these year-round weekly experiences.  The SR10M Dirt Oval Race Car features 24 precision ball bearings, fully adjustable suspension, vertical ball ends for roll centre adjustments, 2.6:1 ratio gearbox with heavy-duty sealed gear differential, and externally adjustable V2 slipper clutch.  The new Octalock spur gear and 11mm Octalock pads are used for maximum consistency and higher torque capacity.

3Racing Sakura D6S 1:10 Drift Chassis

Hong Kong manufacturer 3Racing has released details of its latest entry level 1:10 Drift Chassis, the Sakura D6S.  The all new kit features the ability to run 3 different motor positions in addition to three different types of transmission giving a wide range of distribution and driving characteristic options.  New parts include a slim front bulkhead with castor adjustment between 2-8 degrees.  The kit also gets as belt drive system with a 2.71 ratio that gives the most linear acceleration for medium sized tracks.  To improve the D6 steering angle, they have introduced a newly designed KPI knuckle.  Other developments in the kit are new 6 x 1.3 pistons to give huge improvements in the shock effectiveness.

175RC ‘Retro Gamer’ and ‘Diamonds’ car stands

Utah based 175RC has released a range of new foam car stands that are ‘Retro Gamer’ and ‘Diamonds’ themed.  These stands are 2 inches thick making them perfect for 1:10 and smaller on/offroad vehicles.  Giving a platform measuring 4 x 8 ” they provide a nice solid work surface to set your chassis on.   Starting with the ‘Diamonds’ and ‘Retro Gamer’ styles, they have plans to expand the range of styles offered.

Fenix Racing Toleman TG184 F1 body

Another nostalgic masterpiece from specialist RC Formula car producer Fenix Racing is this Ayrton Senna Toleman TG184 1:10 F1 body.  To set the scene, it was the 1984 Monaco GP and it was a very rainy Sunday.  The race start was delayed several times, hoping for a weather improvement but the rain insist and race start.  From 13th position, a young driver driving a midfield car, started to emerge.  First time in Monaco, Ayrton Senna da Silva, was fast enough to qualify his car in the elusive Monaco GP.  By lap 15, Ayrton was sitting 3rd, chasing Niki Lauda, overtaking him on lap 16.  41 second was the gap to fill with Alain Prost for the 1st position… On lap 31 the gap was mere 7 seconds, with the young Ayrton reducing the gap on 3-4 seconds per lap.  At this point, Jacky Ickx, race director decide that was enough and the checkered flag was weaved, giving a controversial victory to Alain Prost.  This was the race that let’s Senna talent shining in F1 for the very first time.  10 years later, 1st may 1994, Ayrton leave us forever.  To proper celebrate this double anniversary Fenix Racing proudly show their new Toleman TG184 F1 body.  Made to fit Fenix F1-70, Tamiya F103 and F104, and other low front end F1, this body is moulded from high-quality polycarbonate material, it is available now.

Hobbywing Cup – Mächler, Sawada & Lee announced

The organisers of the Hobbywing Cup have announced a number of well known international drivers will make the trip to the Shanghai International Model Auto Racing Arena (SIMARA) in China for the May 30 – June 2 electric touring car event.  1:12 Spec World Champion Max Mächler will make the trip from Germany with his Awesomatix touring car, while Nicolas Lee travels from Singapore for the factory Yokomo team.  Japanese driver Shin Sawada with represent Xray in the Open Brushless class at the 4-day event.  The Hobbywing Cup will also see drivers battle it out around the 65m by 35m track in categories for Stock, Sports Class and Tamiya TT02.
