The organisers of the Largest RC race in the World, the Snowbird Nationals have been in touch to announce that the 2009 Speed Week schedule is posted on the event website. Along with the schedule, racers can also read about all the great news so far leading up to the annual event, which is being held Jan 27th-Feb 1st 2009 in Orlando, Florida. …announce we were able to get the hotel rates the same as in 2008, with the 10 percent discount again if you stay five nights or more. Our schedule will be similar to past years, with practice Tuesday and Wednesday, with racing Thursday through Sunday. Saturday will once again be ‘Bump N’ Run’ day. The guys over at RC50.com have been going through the pits at this weeks Snowbird Nationals in Florida and came across the new Associated RC12R, a soon to be released 1/12th scale link car with Associated offering a T-plate version available as a conversion set. According to the team driver running the car, the last parts have been approved last week and so kits should be out in about two months. Following on from the announcement yesterday that top US racer Mike Blackstock had left Trinity to join Team Bo00d, comes the news the Mike will race for Josh Cyruls CEFX brand in 1/12th scale. According to the short announcement by CEFX, Blackstock and Cyrul combined have won 8 of the last 10 ROAR Carpet Nationals and 5 of the last 7 Snowbird Nationals – a force to be reckoned with then. All the on road racing at this years Snowbirds have been done and in the Touring Pro Mod category it was Xray driver Jilles Groskamp who won the event in dominating style after early leader Mike Dumas, driving for Losi, crashed out allowing Jilles to take the lead where he was never challenged for the rest of the race. Qualifying for the 2007 Snowbirds is now complete as is the bump up B-mains that sees the winner of the B-main take the final place in the A-mains. In Touring Pro Mod it was Mike Dumas that took the top qualifying spot driving for Team Losi finishing just ahead of Dutch driver Jilles Groskamp and Paul LeMieux in 3rd, both racing for Xray. As everyone in RC already knows, the planets biggest RC race is taking place this week in Orlando Florida, the 13th Annual Snowbird Nationals. We have already covered some news from the event but until now haven’t covered the happenings at the track itself.
