What product they are announcing I dont know, but the picture above shows version 1.2 of the Wireless Power prototype, which looks like a speed controller with battery inputs that has a built 2.4Ghz system, judging by the aerial. Could they be transmitting power wirelessly from a base station?

how is that possible? i thought electricity cant be passed through radio waves. Looks very cool, but i dont exactly get what the heck it is. All it needes is a built in motor and servo, lol

I dont think thats an aerial, it looks like something you turn, like an emergency radio/flashlight. Crank it and drive!

im just a little concerned about how this technology will affect the human body. do a little reading about the TELSA coil

you prob. charge it with a battery then unplug it (the charge battery) and go. maybe something like an alternator.
Looks cool though.

True Wireless Charging

9. brett - February 17th, 2008 at 01:02

Also, why is it so good for the earth, and why do you not need additional battery packs? Even if it was wireless, you’d still need to take time to charge it, wouldn’t you? Unless they’ve got an ultra-fast-charge ultra-capacitor perfected too!

This staff is for powering reciever & maybe servo i think.
It’s impossile to transfer high current by wireless for main electic motor.

11. brett - February 17th, 2008 at 22:16

Yeah, but that would make this claim even more baffling…

” Imagine playing with an R/C car, boat, or soft air gun without chargers, power supplies, and extra battery packs. ”

At least if we are talking about EP vehicles, anyway. I don’t see how making the receiver/servo power external on a car that is still powered by a big internal battery would be useful or revolutionary.

Will see…

13. Noah - February 18th, 2008 at 02:03

well, researchers at some University in Boston (I believe) created wireless electricity earlier this year, and honestly, it might be possible.

14. Noah - February 18th, 2008 at 02:05

what I belive they are refering to is the ability to plug your ESC into this “battery” wich is actually a reciver for the battery base whereever it is mounted. Tracks could mount differnt bases accross the track and have true “Endurence” Races. It seems intresting, but there is NO way it will be ROAR approved beacuse it is
A. Extremely Light
B. Infinate power with INFINATE amp draw
C. How could you limit the power draw?

15. Noah - February 18th, 2008 at 02:07

and, not to triple post and all, but where htey conducted “wireless electricity” tests they had a man stand in between the beam and was NOT harmed. Then again, god knows what could happen if it shorted out.

Cool! I’m no engineer, but I’ve been waiting for wireless power. It had to come some time! I’m very sceptical though as to how healthy all these waves all around are for us…
