Celakovice Extreme 24 hour race Categories - Electric, Events, On Road, Racing , trackback
The Extreme 24 hour race was held last weekend on Celakovice race track near Prague in the Czech Republic. The race format was inspired by the real Le Mans, and so the start was scheduled for the same day and time as famous French race. Eight teams of six drivers and pit men fought it out over 24 hours battling exhaustion while trying to keep their equipment running. The race rules were strict to ensure an equal chance to all participating teams and so only Tamiya F-103 chassis, stock 540 motor, LRP tires and Le Mans style bodies were allowed. After 24 hours it was MPM Hobbyteams that took the win with 3749 laps, some 850km of running, finishing in front of Team RC DRiFT, only 56 laps back and RC Celakovice, the host team, 3rd with 3643 laps.

cool race ;0
That is awesome, that would be great to have two of these a year and then depending on outcome have more. I remember when they ran endurance races in the US with R/C yet everyone ran whatever chassis they wanted RC10L, 10Lss, Touring, etc. It would be appealing if it were spec. Although we have so many classes now, I think it would be cool to add an endurance race to the new 200mm GT class, as that seems to best fit the criteria.
As this Celakovice pilot race is being perceived as a big success by Czech racers community, it is for sure next year there is another round of it. And moreover, there is a chance for new racers from at least neighboring countries to participate. I spoke to organizer recently and this idea fits to its plan, so I assume there will be an official race invitation early next year.
Fantastic…………………..
