Artec Racing MK-001 1/8th body shell

We received a release from Artec Racing, another new player in the r/c market who will come out with a new 1/8th scale on-road body shell. We were sent a teaser shot of their first 1/8th body shell named the Artec MK-001. Designed and tested by two top international Team Orion and Kyosho drivers, Ilia Van Gastel and Adrien Bertin, it features a ‘stealth’ shaped cockpit and some ‘innovative’ features at the rear, but this will be revealed later at the Nürnberg toyfair where it will be seen on Adrien Bertin’s car at the Team Orion stand.

I am all for progress in the Hobby, yet it looks like the old style molded driver has “melded” and morphed into the cock-pit. If it works it works, but its not really my cup of tea.

Either that is a big helmet, or a small cockpit…..

I already found the Collari peugeot 908 not really looking as the 1/1 original, but this is crazy!….

@M7H:

did you read the EFRA homologation rules for 1:8 bodies?
you are allowed to relocate the driver/cockpit to accomodate the fueltank.

hence the *big* difference’s.

basicly they are just scaled down group-c cockpits :P

Relocate ok, but not make it smaller!….
this looks like a 1/12 scale cockpit on a 1/8 scale body….

I mean, according to the same EFRA rules you are obliged to paint a driver in atleast 3 colors, to have a realistic look (have you ever seen “the STIG”)…

Toch Peter, of niet dan?….

EFRA Rules are getting ridiculous. Come on now, It would be nice to see bodies that look like real cars again, or in a way similar, I am all for progressing the sport, but designing bodies then naming them after an existing Group C-car (for which they do not look like), come on they look like crap. It was nice in the 80′s and 90′s when the bodies looked realistic. I would hate to see what a Jaguar or Mercedes would look like now if someone made a body.
