Toy Fair 2009 – LRP
LRP are here presenting their wares and most substantial of which is their new brushless system for 1/8th scale. The German company immediately looks to be on to a winner, with their new motor, the Vector 8 X12 coming in at a fraction of the size of the current batch of brushless motors. Based off their World Championship winning X12 platform, and so uses the same internals, the motor features and extended can as well as longer rotor which has also a larger diameter, as is normal to fit the large pinions of 1/8th scale. A video shown on the booth proves that this motor is quick, leaving a gas version of the S8-BX standing on a straight drag race.
Controlling the motor is the biggest revelation, the SPX8 speedo is tiny compared to its competitors and in fact is housed in the Sphere TC ESC body that was the predecessor of the SXX and is so the same size as a standard 1/10th touring car ESC.
As most company’s who have a 1/8th scale buggy or truggy, or in this case both, LRP are set to release an EP version of both the S8-BX, called the S8-BXe and the S8-TX, yes you’ve guessed it, called the S8-TXe. Currently only the buggy version is on show but with the new LRP 1/8th system installed the whole car looks very compact.
LRP also took the time to show off their monster 5300mAh hard case LiPo that is a whopping 40C, making for some huge power out of this 7.4V pack. The pack is also rated at 3C for charging which means it takes a lot less time to charge, somewhere around 20 minutes using their suggested charging methods. There is also a 4300mAh hard case LiPo saddle pack available with the same 40C rating.

More LRP marketing BS! That 40C is the burst rating for the cells and not the continuous discharge rate. Yet again LRP choose to mislead the public, very dissapointing.
