Christer Andersson wins Italian GP

On the first weekend of December, R/C Flyers association organized the first Italian GP at the ‘Centro Sportivo’ in Palazzolo sull’oglio approximately 50 Km from Milan. The race attracted 80 drivers divided into 4 different classes, Sport Foam, Sport Rubber, Open Foam and Open Rubber. Among the drivers there were also some guests as Christer Andersson, Simo Ahoniemi from Finland, Toni Rheinard from Germany, Yuri and Gianni Bonetti from Switzerland and top gas car drivers Francesco Tironi and Daniele Ielasi, current 1/10 scale nitro World Champion.

There were 5 round of qualifications for each class and all the main were run three times. After the qualifications the situations in the classes were:

The finals for the open modified ran out smoothly for Christer Andersson who took the win in all the legs securing the overall victory. For the remaining two spots on the podium there was a really close fight between Federico Sala, Toni Rheinard and Michele Romagnoli. This is the final standing:

The three legs of Open foam class were easily won by Xray driver Francesco Martini, who recorded a really fast 21 laps result in the last final.
