Team Durango DEX408 electric buggy
Team Durango have introduced the DEX408, the electric version of the company’s soon to be released DNX408 gas powered 1/8th scale buggy. Rather than releasing a conversion kit for a nitro car, they have studied the 1/8 electric class carefully and concluded that to make the best possible 1/8 electric buggy, they would design a new car. Many of the components on the DEX408 are shared with its German National Championship winning brother the DNX408, which means that 1/8 scale fans can share wishbones, shocks and differential spare parts between their nitro and electric racing buggies.
DEX408 features:
- The same suspension geometry as the DNX408
- Adjustable battery holders for different LiPo heights
- Cable-holders for power cables and RX cables
- Universal power capacitor holder for ESC (mounted between the batteries)
- Stainless steel droop screw downstops
- Superstiff lightweight-chassis
- Ultra-low, super-sleek, bodyshell (that looks like a racing buggy and not a bloated truck)
- Perfectly balanced chassis with lay-down battery configuration for ideal weight distribution
- Carbon fibre shock towers
- Most of today’s popular ESCs fit under the bodyshell on the ESC tray

So they have designed a new car, but used most of the components from the nitro buggy. Is that a new design then?!

Most 1/8 electric buggies use the same chassis as their nitro counter part. This one uses the same suspension as their nitro car but uses a purpose built chassis.

I kind of figured my Castor would get an upgrade but not like this.
Guess I know a good layout when I see one.

I’ve seen a lot of 1/8th electric or convert nitro buggies . Only a few Have A saddle pack weight distribution . If you look at all the latest hi-end 1/10th buggies you notice that most of them use a Saddle pack configuration ( tamiya , Associated , Kyosho , yokomo , durango etc ) …
I have been meaning to buy a 1/8 electric buggy for a wile now but the weight distribution always put me off … the DEX408 look to have everything in the right place …
can’t wait for it …

I very much like the layout and the materials used. Can’t wait to run one of these and see how the handling compares to my Hyper 9E.
