Capricorn 190mm EP touring car

Italian manufacturer Capricorn, better known for the gas cars, have announced they will be entering the electric 190mm touring car market with a new offering. We have been sent some CAD images of the car, but with no other details, however it looks fairly conventional as most touring cars do these days. The car is expected to be available by the end of this month, with more information and images to follow.

not sure how many times I have to keep saying this…. boooooooooorrrrring!!!!!! (puke) is the RC industry really at such a low, that companies can’t afford their own engineers..!? you should all chip in and share the molds..

Yeap, copies of more copies. The thing is that if any other manufacturer does something different the consumer don’t support it. Obviously, the current platform works very well but it’s the same thing that everybody has. Boring indeed.

Generally my feeling is that the suspension is very underdeveloped on all TCs exept A700. They all basically have Tamiyas suspension from 2006.
There must be big room for improvement in this are and the dampers too. It will take a lot of time and momey to get a new system to work but someone have to be the first one. If just someone dared to take that step.

I would say that Sedan suspensions are very highly developed right now. This is why the winning cars all look alike.

Look at the suspension systems in real racing cars. All most all F1 cars are identical with the body panels off, so are all NASCAR’s, V8 Supercars, LeMan Cars, etc….

In each of these an optimum planform was arrived at and changes are really small, incremental evolutions. That’s where we are with sedans, 1/12th cars, buggies, everything.

As far as the A700…rotary dampers have been abandoned by just about all full scale cars and motorcycle in favor of linear dampers for reasons or consistency and serviceability. The A700 is a cool looking car at works well. Is it the shape of things to come….I seriously doubt it.

How about that sliding steering rack, that’s not so conventional.

8. Stever - October 1st, 2012 at 23:57

Who was making those shocks that had the piston go straight through the top of the shock, what’s going on there?

steering is kind of like tlr22

c’mon… tc suspenstion is nowhere! probably not geometry wise, certainly design wise. like hrx said, it’s all more or less marc’s suspension from 2006. there is lots of room for improving unsprung weight and bringing the cg down by implementing A700 type arms and inboard suspension. really hope someone dares to do something before the class is completely dead… :P

the shock where the piston is going through the top is made by AME – Andreas Myrberg and are called T-shox. visit his web http://www.team-ame.com to see them.

So true about the suspension being the underdeveloped area now. What I don’t understand is why no one of these manufacturers who have added a TC to the product line-up lately, or any manufacturer at all for that matter, have built on this successful 2-belt, double-deck chassis layout proven and refined for so long now but focused on improving the suspension. Implementing the A700 suspension to this layout but with similar damper to what we already know.
BTW, the TRF reversible suspension was used already in 2004…
