Poalo Morganti wins 1/8th at 2013 Winternats

The annual 1/8th on-road Winternats in Florida is a bit of a season opener for nitro on-road racing and the meeting again attracted a large number of both national and international drivers such as Mike Swauger, Ralph Burch, DJ Apolaro, Rick V., Paolo Morganti and Michael Salven, to name just a few. Qualifying day one was fine with sunshine and high grip track with Euro guys Salven and Green making a first statement with the new Serpent S977 Viper car finishing second and third.

Come day two and three the weather turned to the worst as qualifying was spoiled by rain. The lower finals started on Friday afternoon with the main finals on Saturday. At the end it was Serpent’s Paolo Morganti who grabbed the win in the Open class after Michael Salven dominated the first half of the final but had to retire due to his car’s engine came loose harming the flywheel. Second place went to Xray’s Mike Swauger with Capricorn’s DJ Apolaro in third place.
