Max Mört wins 4WD at SC Winter Cup Rd3

The SC Winter Cup is the most competitive SC race series in Finland, fought out in a total of 6 races all over Finland. The classes run are 2WD and 4WD SC. Last weekend the series travelled to Helsinki where one of Europe’s biggest RC centres is located. 3700 square meters of racing space host four permanent tracks. PKSRCA is also the biggest club in Finland with over 300 members. The race schedule sees two rounds of practice and three rounds of qualifying of which two count while the finals are run in a 2-out-of-4 format. This has let the racing class to grow rapidly as it offers plenty of track time. The 4WD class had a very exciting qualification to offer with Max Mört and Max Söderlund both having first and second place finishes and in the end Max Mört took the TQ by just 0.5 seconds. The grid was completed with Tom Thusberg and Lauri Ruotsalainen for the 4 first spots.

In 4WD class all four finals where very exciting. Max Mört (Team C) was leading the first final by a car length, but in the last laps there was a contact with Lauri who was running second, allowing Max Söderlund to come in for the win for Durango. In the warm-up for the second final Lauri spun of the track and Mört jumped straight into his truck as he was not able to avoid the collision resulting in a broken front arm on Mört’s truck. Max Söderlund then took the second final just a car length from Lauri. Max Mört now needed to win the next two legs in order to take the overall win.

Come the third of four legs Max Mört shifted into second gear scoring a perfect run. Now the race was open again and the fourth and deciding final saw Max Mört driving in the first spot for the whole final with Max Söderlund only a car length behind him. They took contact twice but Söderlund made it a gentleman race by waiting both times. Max Mört then crossed the finish line first in order to take the day’s win in the 4WD SC class.
