Olivier Bultynck wins at rainy Belgium TC nats Rd3

The 3rd round of the Belgium Electric Touring Car Nationals took place at the track of Bierset under bad weather conditions with a lot of water on the track. After the qualifiers it was defending champion Olivier Bultynck who took the pole in front of Nicolas Delisé and Nick Joosens. Olivier had a splendid start in the first final and started to pull away from the rest. Due to the constant rain all drivers where struggling with the track conditions but Bart Van Sande, coming from 8th place on the grid, started to challenge Nick while suddenly Olivier’s car stopped, ending his final. In the meantime Nick had taken over the lead following a mistake from Bart. Paul Dejonghe was in 3rd place and he was able to hold the position until the final. This meant Nick would take the win with a happy Bart grabbing the runner-up spot in the opening A-final.

The 2nd final was even more worse than the first as it was raining cats and dogs. Olivier and Nick went away right from the start and Bart was already in 3rd place. Then Nick made a mistake, falling back to 3rd, and Olivier was gone. With Bart now in 2nd, Nick put a lot of pressure on him. Bart made a mistake and Nick was back in 2nd place. Ultimately Olivier took the win and the 3rd final would be the decider. Nick came in 2nd with Bart in 3rd.

The the final leg was exciting till the end. Olivier took the lead with Nick in 2nd place. Olivier then proved to be a little bit faster and went away from Nick, while Nicolas Delisé, who struggled the whole day, was now in 3rd place. But with 2 laps to go Olivier’s car was slowing down. Nick was able to close the gap swiftly and in the final lap he was just behind Olivier. Both went through the final corner together but Olivier took the inside line and crossed the finish line first just 0.05 seconds in front of Nick. In the leg Nicolas took 3rd place in front of Manuel Henriet. The overall result had Olivier Bultynck (VBC) taking the win, with Nick Joosens (Yokomo) in 2nd and Bart Van Sande (Yokomo) in 3rd.
