Swedish EP on-road Championships 2015 – Report

The Swedish Championships for 1/10th Touring Car and 1/12th Modified classes were held in Örebro, on a purpose-built track that was laid out in a sports hall. On Saturday, followed by a full day of practice on Friday, Markus Hellquist set the pace in both the Touring Car Modified and the 1/12 scale class, 0.537 seconds ahead of Niclas Nilsson in Touring and 0.011 seconds ahead of Alexander Andersson in 1/12 scale. In 17,5T Touring Stock class Andreas Gillblad set the pace just 0.079 ahead of Daniel Trygg.

In the Touring Car classes the qualifying consisted of five rounds of qualifying with the best three to count in a round by round system. In the Modified class Markus Hellquist won all five rounds without any close competition to take the TQ ahead of Magnus Vässmar in 2nd and Niclas Nilsson in 3rd.

In Stock Daniel Trygg secured the pole position ahead of Eddie Nordenwall and Christofer Hedlund.

In 1/12th scale the qualifying also consisted of five rounds, but only the fastest run would count towards the qualifying result. In the end it was Alexander Andersson who took the TQ only 0.01 seconds ahead of Niclas Nilsson with Markus Hellquist in 3rd.

In the Touring Car Modified finals Markus Hellquist was able to make a clean sweep in all three finals without any real pressure from his competitors. Magnus Vässmar grabbed the runner-up spot in front of Niclas Nilsson in 3rd.

In the Touring Car Stock class Daniel Trygg secured the victory in the first two finals after some really intense and tight racing with 2nd placed Eddie Nordenwall and 3rd placed Christofer Hedlund.

In 1/12th scale there was a great battle between Niclas Nilsson and Alexander Andersson. Alexander was slightly faster but too many mistakes meant he had to let Niclas Nilsson go for the overall win. Alexander Andersson ultimately took the number 2 spot on the podium and Mattias Ericsson rounded up the podium in 3rd.
