Danish 1/8th Off-Road Nationals Rd1 – Report

The first round of the Danish 1/8th Off-Road nationals attracted a total of around 90 drivers from Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Norway to compete in Nitro Buggy, Nitro Truggy and Electric Buggy classes. The track layout was very challenging and fun to race with a combination of a very big jump and difficult landing section on the straight, an “American wupti section” and some tight and flowing corners and sweepers. In Nitro Buggy it was the Xray duo of Mike Gosvig and Peter Harder who were fighting hard throughout all qualification rounds. Mike won the first round with 0.2 seconds on Peter and the second round with a 2 second margin. In round three Peter was leading until the last lap when a crash on the big jump handed Mike the win and a well-deserved TQ. In the last qualifier Peter turned the fastest lap of the day and scored the fastest qualification run to have him start from pole in the semifinal B. Mike and Peter then went on to win their respective semifinals to have them line up up front for the main final.

The main had Peter getting a good start while Mike got into problems in the first corner which allowed Peter to pull away. Mike soon recovered and he started to chase Peter with both being on the same fuel strategy and this allowed Peter to stay on top throughout the 45 minutes of racing. At the end Peter Harder (Xray) took the win from Mike Gosvig (Xray) and Lars Erik Mo (HB).

In the Nitro Truggy class the HB trio of Silas Hogholt, Lars Erik Mo and Peter Harder were in a great fight from the first qualification heat until the checked flag. Peter took the TQ after winning the first 3 qualification rounds and in the main final the 3 HB drivers had a great fight with Silas taking the victory after a great 45 minute drive. Peter Harder and Lars Erik Mo rounded out the podium in 2nd and 3rd.

Danish 1/8th Off-Road Nationals Rd1 – Report

In E-buggy it was young and talented Magnus Frandsen (TLR) who dominated the weekend, but it was newly crowned vice-European 1/12th scale champion Mike Gosvig (Xray) who was giving Magnus a hard time. Mike took the TQ, but in the end Magnus could win the race after wins in the first and second A-final. Mike though took an easy win in the third final to grab the runner-up spot from Jan D. Hansen (TLR).

Thanks to Peter Harder for sending the report.
