French Nitro On-Road Championship Rd1 – Report

The opening round the 2015 French 1/8th Nitro On-Road Championship was held at the Circuit Carole, a fast and challenging track with the event attracting a total of 86 racers. Four rounds of qualifying were scheduled but only three would be held due to rain. In the Elite class it was Romain Picard who took pole position, just 0.14 seconds in front of Christophe Louis. In the National class Mickael Foin took pole position after the qualifiers.

At the beginning of the 45 minute Elite class final there was a close fight between Adrien Bertin and Richard Volta, but Richard has to retire early, allowing Christophe Louis to catch up on Adrien until the latter ran out of fuel before a planned pit stop, allowing Christophe Louis to take the win one lap ahead of Adrien. Another lap down Gerald Colinet rounded out the podium.

In the 30 minute National class final tyre wear came into play for the race strategy and at first the race was on between Yoann Coehlo and Nicolas Miramont who changed the lead due to different fuel strategy. But just after his tyre change, Yoann Coehlo made a mistake and he had to retire. In the closing stages Romain Fournery was able to close the gap on the leader but he ran out of time and finished only 4 seconds behind the race winner Nicolas Miramont. Behind Romain Frederic Vergnieres rounded out the podium.
