2016/17 Mibosport Cup finale – Report

The final round of the 2016/17 Mibosport Cup was held this past weekend in Hrotovice, Czech Republic with more than 150 drivers competing in the six electric on-road and off-road classes. In the Touring Modified class Martin Hudy took the TQ but it was Zdenko Kunák who won the opening A-main ahead of Kuba Šimurda, Matěj Šulc and Dominic Vogl while Martin Hudy finished seventh with technical issues. Dominic managed to overtake Martin for the top spot in the second A-main and won ahead of Martin and Zdenko Kunák. Martin would then keep the top spot till the end in the third A-main, leaving Zdenko and Dominic behind. As Zdenko and Martin ended tie on points after the A-mains the winner was decided by the tie-breaker and the better qualifying position handed Martin the win while Dominic Vogl ended the day on the final podium spot.


Tom Krägefski took the TQ in the Stock LRP class ahead of Oliver Havránek and Aleš Pelikán. A very close battle between Tom and Oliver took place right from the start of the first A-main. Oliver then finished only 0.27s ahead of Tom as Aleš Pelikán came in third. The second A-main was almost a blueprint of A1 as Tom and Oliver were again battling for the top spot with Oliver coming out successful. Aleš Pelikán took the third spot again. As Oliver sat out the third A-main, the final was won by Tom Krägefski with Marton Tóth and Aleš Pelikán behind. With these results the overall win went to Oliver Havránek with Tom Krägefski and Aleš Pelikán completing the podium.

Herbert Weber again dominated the Formula class, taking the TQ head of Lukáš Hoch and Christian Schmid. In all three finals Herbert took comfortable wins while Lukáš Hoch and Christian Schmid made up the final podium spots.

Tomáš Lipták confirmed his dominance of the 1/12th scale class as he masterfully won the qualifying and all A-mains as well. Christoph Ramsauer managed to finish second in the first A-main ahead of Aleš Pelikán. In the second A-main, Thomas Dvorszky finished second in front of Christoph Ramsauer. The third A-main was absolutely the same as the second one and so Tomáš Lipták took the overall win with Thomas Dvorszky and Christoph Ramsauer completing the podium.

Over to the 2WD Buggy class in which Hupo Hönigl took the TQ in front of Aleš Bidovský and Kája Novotný. The A-mains on the challenging track made for some dramatic battles but Hupo managed to keep the first position in the first A-main ahead of Kája and Aleš who fought for the second place. Aleš then retired from the race in the seventh lap while the third place went to Max Götzl. The second A-main was even more dramatic, when Hupo made a mistake in the first lap, loosing some positions, promoting Kája Novotný and Aleš Bidovský into the top spot, but Hupo made an amazing recovery and took the lead again, keeping it till the end. Kája Novotný finished second ahead of Aleš Bidovský. The third A-main was won by Kája with Max Götzl and Aleš Bidovský behind as Hupo opted to sit out A3. Overall Hupo Hönigl grabbed the win from Kája Novotný and Max Götzl.

The qualifying in the 4WD Buggy class was won by Kája Novotný. Hupo Hönigl took the second position ahead of Max Götzl. In the first A-main, Hupo managed to overtake Kája for the top spot quite early after start. Hupo then finished the final in the first position with Kája and Peter Loncsar behind. Kája was watching Hupo’s back even in the second A-main, when Hupo made a mistake and Kája took the victory ahead of him and Aleš Bidovský. The third final was about to decide the winner of the race as Hupo and Kája had the same number of points going into the decisive main. Kája was leading the way in the third A-main, however he did not hold the pressure of Hupo who overtook Kája for the first place as Aleš Bidovský came in third. Overall Hupo Hönigl finished on the first spot with Kája Novotný and Aleš Bidovský completing the podium.
