On the heels of its wildly successful launch of the City Block and I-Beam off-road racing tires, AKA is releasing two more tread patterns, the Grid Iron and the Cross Brace, just in time for the upcoming 1/8 IFMAR World Championship. These two new tread patterns begin shipping to better hobby shops around the world in late September. Like all AKA tires, these are available in all three compounds used by the factory drivers. That means there’s no ’secret’ compounds that are only available to team drivers, AKA sells the exact same products used by their team drivers.

Large diameter wheels are the craze in 1/8th off-road for blue and black grooved conditions and JConcepts is right on target with Rulux Half-ups truck wheels in standard offset. Half-ups refer to the bead mounting diameter sized at 3.7” for today’s low profile racing tires and these truck wheels make a statement with their large appearance, spoke design and superior inner rib design. Half-ups wheels also incorporate an outer glue catch that resists excess glue from running down the wheel face during the gluing process. Fits 1/8th trucks with 17mm hex and standard offset.

Tekno RC have released this brushless kit for the popular Team Associated RC8 buggy. The kit features the first commercially available 1/8th scale electric specific chassis along with Tekno RC’s innovative patent pending Elektri-Clutch system, which allows the racer to tune the power delivery of the hottest brushless motors. The hardened steel clutch bells will last and last because the motor is disengaged from the drive train off power. Claiming to have the lowest CG of any conversion for better handling and unlike other conversions this continues to utilize the cars original braking system meaning this conversion will feel really similar to a gas powered car in terms of power delivery and braking characteristics.

Similar to the shock service parts boxes released at the end of last year by Losi for the 8ight and 8ight T, the US company has now released these spring box sets. Coming in a handy reusable container, the front set contains 6 various springs while the rear set has 7, making for a cost effective way to obtain all possible spring combos.

VP Pro test new Wider Rear tire Categories - Off Road, Products, Tires, VP Pro - comments closed
VP Pro were in touch to tell us about some recent tests of a new wider rear tire preformed by one of their team drivers in the USA, the results showed that the performance was awesome. It had an incredible amount of forward traction and gave the car more control compared to the standard rear tires, and also they found that cornering was faster and more controlled. We will keep you updated on progress.
