MLC 1/8th Peugeot 908 bodyshell

MLC Peugeot 908 bodyshell

Seen at last weekend’s Trofeo MLC & Tornado, run at the RME ‘Lamberto Collari’ track to celebrate Collari’s 8 World Championship titles, was the new Peugeot 908 1/8th scale body shell from MLC. Made by Bergonzoni and already appearing on the EFRA list of approved body shells for the 1/8th class, this new shell is unusual in that it has a full cockpit. This aside, the body is essentially a Lola CanAm shell, albeit a bit more stable. The race itself was won by Lamberto, who of course was running the new shell, while the version shown above belongs to Andrea Pirani who finished 3rd.

How can this body be approved ?
It does not even remotely look like a real car or to scale.
What next tall sideplates like on a slotcar.

And the Lolas on the market look like real cars? Hardly.

The Lola bodies are based on the original Lola T530, which no doubt you have never seen, even though you seem to like passing commment. They are actually a fairly reasonable representation of the original, particularly in a scale and proportion sense. The same cannot be said for this body, particularly in regards to cockpit placement and cockpit size relative to the length of the body. And lets not even start with the rear body shape. If you want to start actually comparing to the original 908 then that is another story altogether as this body bears not the slightest representation of the original car.

Here is a picture of the real T530. Our bodies would seem to be a reasonable reproduction to me.
How about the 908 ? Does it remotely looks as close ? I think not
