Gualtiero Picco (1940 – 2011)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of the RC Industry’s pioneers, Mr. Gualtiero Picco. The man behind Picco Micromotori, the company he started in the early 80′s, passed away yesterday following a long illness, he was 71. Best known for the engines that carried his name, it was Gualtiero’s passion and constant drive to develop that has, in no small part, shaped the design and configuration of modern day RC engines. A long time Tether car enthusiast, he holds the current World record which he set in 2009 in the WMCR V class, getting his ‘car’ up to a speed of 344 kmh. He is survived by his wife Marisa and two sons Alberto and Edoardo, who carry on the running of the Picco company. Red RC would like to express our condolences to the Picco family.
