Wayne Joelson retains SA title with Rd4 win

The 4th and final round of the 2010 South African On Road Gas Nationals took place at the TRAP facility just outside the city of Pretoria recently. Taking TQ in the 1/8th scale class, the only driver to run 18 laps in the qualifiers, was current SA Champion Wayne Joelson driving his Novarossi powered Mugen Seiki MRX4X. The final, which had to be shortened to 40 minutes due to threatening weather, saw Wayne take victory by 5 laps ahead of team mate Faizel Salie in 2nd and Serpent driver Dave Wiseman in 3rd, a lap further back. Wayne Joelson wins African Cup for 4th year

The 7th Annual African Cup for On Road Gas cars was held the last weekend of September at the TRAP facility outside Pretoria. Temperatures were in the mid 30 degrees Celcius and with a 1 hour final, this race would be the toughest in Africa. Current South African Champion Wayne Joelson with his Novarossi powered Mugen Seiki MRX4X finished 1st for the 4th consecutive year, with second place going to his team mate Steve Munslow, with EDAM driver Arnold Vermaak in 3rd. Kyle Branson dominates Rd8 of British 1/8th Nats

The 8th round of the BRCA 1/8th scale Nationals was a second visit to the Brooklands circuit in Kent. With all the main players present, it would become a very competitive race weekend. Team Serpent had again Mark Green and winner from the previous round Kyle Branson present to help the team in their quest for the championship. Team Shepherd also had Neil Diver present to help team leaders Pete and Andy Hastings. The Irish racers were again present to increase the competition. The Mugen Team still awaiting the release of the MRX5 chassis had to contend with the MRX4X

Joelson & Bower take Rd2 in South Africa

Mid May saw drivers from all around South Africa attend round 2 of the National Championship in East London. In the 1/8th class Wayne Joelson driving a Novarossi powered Mugen Seiki MRX4X who was top qualifier and went on to win the 45 minute final by 5 laps. Second place was Steve Munslow while in third place overall was James Brauns making it a Mugen Seiki 1-2-3. Wayne Joelson wins South African Nats Rd1

Thunder Valley Raceway (TVR), played host to round 1 of the 2010 South African National Gas Championship. Current 1/8th scale National Champion Wayne Joelson with his Mugen Seiki MRX4X powered by Novarossi Flash .21 & Matrix Tires was the only driver to run 19 laps, taking the Top Qualifier spot. Sunday’s 45 minute final saw temperatures close to 32 degrees.
