Jared Tebo has announced his final sponsor going into the 2011 season, a new company called Maxima Fuel. “I have just signed a 2 year contract with a brand new fuel company, Maxima Fuels. They are new into the RC fuel business, but not in RC, or the oil business. The new company has amazing contacts with lubricants that are not currently used in RC. I think that this is a great opportunity for me and Maxima. It is very exciting to be a part of this adventure and I will be working very closely with them to make the best fuel we can. With that said I have to give many thanks to Byrons Fuels. They welcomed me in 2009 and have been amazing to me. The people behind the company are great, and they have a great product. I have a great opportunity here and need to take it to try to reach some of my personal goals. They understood and we ended on very good terms. I wish all of Team Byron the best of luck in 2011 and beyond. Continuing on from yesterday’s Pro-Line release, the US tire and body company have today confirmed that young Canadian racer Ty Tessmann will use their products in 2011. Ty had this to say about the deal:

Last weekend Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri started out the year with a double victory at the TLR Supercross Series at West Coast R/C Raceway & Hobby Garage in La Mirada, CA. The second round of the series is now in the books and again Cavalieri and his Factory Team B4.1 came out on top of the 2wd Modified class, opting not to compete in the 4wd class. With last week’s runner up Mike Truhe out of town, Dustin Evans came looking to challenge Cavalieri for the victory. But a track record qualifying effort from Cavalieri ensured he started first on the ‘supercross’ grid and with a good jump off the line Cavalieri lead from start to finish. Up next for Cavalieri, he travels to Jeffersonville, OH where he will join team mates Ryan Maifield, Steven Hartson, Brent Thielke, Chad Due and others at the historic 24th Annual CRCRC Winter Midwest Championship Electric Championships.

GQ Tires have announced their new 1/8th scale soft rims and now offers two rim choices for RC racers. GQ’s Pro Rim is a stiff rim that is suitable for warm weather racing and on smooth, high grip, and/or fast surfaces, while their new high tech ‘Soft Rim’ is suitable for racing in cooler weather along with bumpy and low traction surfaces and/or tracks with tight turns that are more technical in design. The ‘Soft Rims’ are stiff on the outer edge which maintains corner speeds then soften going toward the inner edge. This softening of the rims is what gives these tires the extra traction on the types of surfaces mentioned.

Ardent Raceway hosted the 4th round of their winter series last weekend and with 14 heats lined up it was going to be a long day. In 13.5T Liam Brooks wrapped up not just a comfortable TQ, but a double race win and overall championship victory with 2 races to spare. A simply awesome performance from Liam and his Schumacher Mi4CX. In the 10.5T class James Hart continued his fine form taking TQ, with Sam Clifton an excellent 2nd with his new CX and Dominic Carter in 3rd. Final one was dominated by James with a flag to flag win, the second was a bit more frenetic with Chris Ashton catching James, Sam and Dominic from further down the grid and taking the win. Last minute changes in positions saw James take the overall from Dominic and Sam and Chris, making 3 Mi4CX’s in the top 4. The big boys in the modified class gave the watching crowd some close and entertaining racing. Chris Grainger improved his previous performances lining up 3rd on the grid, with Matt White and John Pape also getting amongst it in the top 10. Andy Moore and Olly Jefferies went at it big time with the 1-2, Chris had a tough set of finals on the hard to pass track and ended up in the midfield.
Schumacher have announced the release of two new products for the Cougar SV 2wd buggy. The new chassis and top deck set has been developed over several months by their high level team drivers in a variety of conditions. The chassis is 8mm longer than the standard kit which significantly changes the weight balance of the car, while the weight distribution is now shifted further towards the rear which makes the car more stable, easier to drive and offers better rear traction on medium to low grip surfaces. In addition to the chassis, the above longer top deck is also required. Once again it has been developed by their team to provide the optimal flex for this chassis design.
Pro-Line have announced the signing of a 2 year extension to the contract of star driver Ryan Cavalieri, which will see the American running their bodies and tires through to the end of 2012. “Our working and racing relationship with Ryan has been a true pleasure for everyone at Pro-Line.
