Passionate – Speed Passion Gran Turismo LPF ESC
Performance
The LPF V1.1 is meant to be an “intermediate” Modified speedo with its capability to handle Modified motors as low as 5.5T at 7.2V. This offers enough potential for a use in electric off-road classes with Modified motors or Pan Car on-road racing. The optional fan helps the ESC stay cool even in hot conditions or with the mentioned low turn motors. During testing we found out that it is not generally necessary to use the fan as build-in heat sink works very well and the low resistance FETs used in the GT LPF produced only a minimum of heat.
After a seven minutes run in a 2WD buggy with the Speed Passion Ultra Sportsman Series 9.5T motor the bare heat sink gained very little temperature. Equipped with the fan and used with a SP Competition 2.0R 5.5T motor in an Associated B44 the heat sink was still cold enough to press a finger on it for more that just a couple of seconds.
Software
Setting up the Gran Turismo ESC is as easy as 1-2-3. The calibration on your transmitter is done the usual way by hitting the set-up button several times while going through the neutral, flat out and full stop positions your transmitters trigger. The same set-up button, in combination with the on/off switch, is used to choose between the several software options of the ESC as there are
Running mode (forward/brake or forward/reverse)
Drag brake
Low voltage cut-off (important when using LiPo cells!)
Start mode (which basically changes the “feel” or acceleration when hitting the throttle)
Maximum brake
Maximum reverse power
Initial brake (important for all of you off-road guys)
Neutral range (important when using non-sensored brushless motors)
Timing (for sensorless motors)
With the help of the supplied hand held unit also motor type (brushless/brushed) and the over heat protection (on/off) can be adjusted. This hand held unit is very handy as it clearly shows the selected parameters and their values which is never a bad thing under hectic practice or racing conditions.
