Asia Onroad Championships Rd2 – Report
The 2nd round of the 2014 Asia Onroad Championships was run at the 3Stone Raceway in Malaysia. In the Touring Car Modified A-main Heikal Bahrin was poised for the win when he dominated the qualifying runs taking TQ and winning the first A main with a 3 second lead over Woon Fong Siow. However some mistakes in A2 and a very close 2nd place finish in A3 handed the win to Woon Fong with a 6.5 second tie breaker. Heikal Bahrin finished 2nd while Woon Fong’s dad, Jackie Siow completes the podiums as 3rd place finisher.
The Touring 13.5 Boosted A main had one of the closest tie breakers most likely ever seen in the history of AOC. With PY Tang and Michael Lo both having one 1st and 2nd places in their runs, it boiled down to who had the lowest combined times and PY Tang took the title with an advantage of just 0.028 seconds. Kew Sau Gie completed the podium with a 3rd place overall.
Touring 13.5 Blinky had Melaka Hafiz dominating all 3 mains but it was a close fight for 2nd and 3rd with Adley Tuang winning 2nd and Azli was tied for 3rd with 2 other drivers but the tie breaker secured his podium position.
In the F1 class Shahrin went unchallenged in all 3 mains and dominated the class from the very beginning to win the race and crowned AOC round 2 champion. Norazam in 2nd and Dino Sidhu in 3rd completed the podium.
Mini 2WD had Rosaidi Osman dominating the first 2 mains to clinch the title of AOC round 2 champion in front of McD and Halim Hafni.
