Kee to lead FEMCA as Reid calls time on 20-year contribution to racing in Asia
FEMCA, the governing body that represents 15 nations in Asia and Australasia, has announced that Leonard Lee will now head up the federation as Trevor Reid officially calls time on his 20-year contribution to RC racing in the region and around the world. Having held the post of Vice-President, Malaysian Kee has been very active over the last few years with FEMCA events as well as shaping the future of FEMCA including the recently announced rebranding of its title races to Asian Championships. From New Zealand, Reid made the official announcement of his replacement in a letter titled ‘Changing of the guard’. Having got to know Trevor over our many years of covering IFMAR World Championships, and had the pleasure of catching up with him again recently at the opening round of the Asian Buggy Championships in his home country, one thing that always stood out to use was his commitment to the role and his willingness to fight for what was best for the racing and the racers, battles unfortunately he didn’t always win. As the new FEMCA President Kee’s first big event in the role will be the highlight anticipated 1:10 Offroad World Championships in Sydney, Australia, later this year. Adding to the official announcement, Kee expressed his appreciation of Reid’s work with a statement in which he said the Kiwi was always “Tirelessly working with the various associations and manufacturers in the goal of bringing the Hobby from recreation to a sport”.
Letter from Reid
‘For the past 3 years many of you will have noticed Leonard Kee has been the MC for FEMCA events. Some of you will be aware he has also played an integral role in the organisation, planning and running of them. It’s now time to make it official and for Leonard to lead a new team going forward.
FEMCA was primarily set up as a facilitator structured to coordinate and facilitate drivers entry for iFMAR events. While that still remains important please expect changes to better reflect and serve the current RC environment in ASIA. As we progress Leonard will announce his new team for FEMCA.
On that note I would like to acknowledge all those who have helped as part of the FEMCA executive in the past. Charlie Siribodhi , Masami Hirosaka, Max Lim, Lim Peng Heng, Yasuo Takizawa, and also my wife Sandy for her role and support during this period often un-seen working in the background especially in the early stages.
Also acknowledge the many benefactors and clubs who have been instrumental in hosting events in the name of FEMCA & iFMAR as without their generosity neither FEMCA or iFMAR could exist.
Thank you all! and there have been many.
RC grows from the bottom, that is your grass roots local clubs and tracks. Please support them and the volunteers who give their time running them and your sport can grow. Remember a successful race meeting depends on the “Grin Factor” for all participants, not just the result for one.
And that’s something that sets Asia apart, and why so many drivers from all corners of the RC world attend race meetings in our part of the world.
Last: Thanks to everybody for your support, it’s been a great journey for me meeting so many of you on that journey that have made a difference.
All the best for the future and enjoy your racing.
Regards,
Trevor J Reid

Statement from Kee
My deepest appreciation to Trevor who has done an incredible job over the years in leading the Asia RC community through FEMCA. Tirelessly working with the various associations and manufacturers in the goal of bringing the Hobby from recreation to a sport. It is an honour to continue his work and push the hobby to greater heights. His experience is invaluable and I have requested that he continue to stay on in FEMCA as an adviser and consultant so that his experience and knowledge can continue to play a part in the association and the sport. A team has been put together of which I will be sharing details with the Asian RC community shortly.
