Vintage Bash 4.0 Sets New Record 483 Entries – Report

Taking place in Melbourne recently with Atsushi Hara among those in attendance, Vintage Bash 4.0 has cemented its position as Australia’s premier vintage off-road RC event, delivering a spectacular four-day celebration that blended nostalgia, racing heritage, and modern festival energy.  Hosted at the Knox RC Track, VB4.0 once again raised the bar with an incredible 483 entries, breaking its own national record and reaffirming its status as the largest RC racing event ever held in Australia.  The Vintage Bash attracts racers from across Australia, along with an impressive roster of international visitors flying in from Japan, Spain, Indonesia, New Zealand, Canada, and the USA.  This global participation added a remarkable multicultural richness to the paddock, reflecting the universal appeal of vintage RC racing and the strong reputation the Bash has built worldwide.  More than just a race meeting, Vintage Bash 4.0 delivered a full festival-style experience.  Enthusiasts of classic-era machines were treated to relaxed racing across iconic classes, a beautifully curated concours, and the crowd-favourite 1989 IFMAR Worlds re-enactment, which became a centrepiece of the weekend’s nostalgia.

The atmosphere was elevated further by professional live streaming and commentary from RC Race Media, complete with pit walks, interviews, and real-time insights that brought the action to viewers around the world. Music, food vendors, and a relaxed but energetic social vibe created a welcoming environment that resonated with newcomers and long-time racers alike.  True to the spirit of vintage RC, the event brought together a remarkably diverse community — spanning ages, backgrounds, and abilities.  Lifelong friendships were rekindled, new connections forged, and the shared passion for early electric off-road racing created an inclusive and engaging environment.  The Bash continues to be recognised not just for its racing, but for its community-first ethos that celebrates creativity, engineering, craftsmanship, and nostalgia in equal measure.

With Vintage Bash 4.0 setting new participation and visibility records, the organising team is planning an even bigger VB5.0 for 2026. Already reviewing the learnings and exploring enhancements and infrastructure opportunities to ensure the event continues to scale while maintaining its unique charm and global appeal.  Vintage Bash has grown from a passionate idea into a truly international RC celebration — and VB4.0 stands as its most successful chapter yet.  Will we see you at VB5.0?
