EssexCarpetClash Round 3 – Report

The recent third round of the EssexCarpetClash would be perfect for Schumacher’s Ben Smith as he took the win in both 2WD and 4WD.  With many drivers excited for the next round of Essex Carpet Clash, drivers entered to a track initially looking simple and flowing to race on.  After a round of heated practice it turned out that this was a very demanding track to get right and needed a lot of concentration to get the perfect lap.  4WD would see Smith entering this round and dominating each qualifying run at the top of the timing sheets.  Steve Biscoe would have great results with his x-ray car and would line up second on the grid for the three leg finals. Also having consistent runs in the final were Ellis Stafford Steve Brown a head of Alfie castle and Ben Elliott.  The finals was more of a fight for who would be on the podium. Ben Smith won each leg showing how fast he truly is on a tyre combination and surface he’s not raised on before.  Steve Biscoe again would be second best for the day in all finals and finished second on the podium a head of Ellis Stafford managing third.

2WD was very competitive at the sharp end.  Smith was the fastest on all of his runs that he finished throughout the day in both classes.  Breaking his car on a track marking in round four, it was Harley Eldridge would had consistent runs throughout qualifying and managed to make best in Q4 to take the round TQ spot.  Tommy Hall was up at the sharp end after a poor round one score not finishing, and lined up third on the grid for the three leg finals.  Will Venables was joint on points with Steve Biscoe lining up ahead of Jamie Hall.  The finals would see Smith Drive his LD3 from pole position to the win in each leg final.  Tommy Hall with fight for position and manage to gain and jump up position on the last two leg finals giving him Second on the podium. Harley Eldridge would take the bottom step of the podium having 2 decent final scores counting.

E Final – Simon Hall
D final – Martin Williams
C final – Jason Burroughs
B final – Jamie Long

Andy Manning took the turbo award improving 6 places from his grid spot.  Now halfway through the championship, the series returns at the beginning of January for Round 4.
