Pietsch leaves Mugen Seiki after 16-years

Having brought them World Championship success both as a driver and then as a designer, Robert Pietsch has announced that he is leaving Mugen Seiki after 16-years working together.  The German Nitro Onroad racer won the 1:8 Onroad World Championship in Miami in 2011 and was Top Qualifier in 1:10 Nitro Touring Car a year earlier among a host of other successes before taking up the role of designer with the Japanese manufacturer.  His most recent design work the MRX7 won the 2025 World Championship on its debut in Chile with Shoki Takahata who used Pietsch’s previous design to win the 2019 title.  Pietsch has also been instrumental in Mugen Seiki’s Electric Touring Car programme also regularly accompanying Ronald Volker to races around the world.  Having had the pleasure of working with Robert both as a World class racer & a designer, and being there to witness him winning the biggest prize in our sport in 2011 and all the other highs & lows of racing along the way, Red RC wish him well with his ‘new challenge’.

To all friends and supporters,
What a long and beautiful journey this has been. Sixteen years ago, I began my career at Mugen Seiki.  Together, we achieved great goals, but we also had to endure some bitter setbacks.  As a driver, I was able to celebrate several national and European titles, and even a World Championship title – a big childhood dream of mine.  Unfortunately, I never managed to achieve my goal of winning both World Championship titles in the 1/10 and 1/8 nitro classes, although I had the chance to do so a few times.

Winning the recent World Championship title with my last car design, the MRX7, makes me proud and feels like a gift to all of us who worked on it.

Today, I have to tell you that I am now leaving Mugen Seiki.  For some time, I’ve felt the desire to change something in my life – and now I have been given the opportunity to do so.

This decision was not easy for me. I would like to thank all my friends, drivers, colleagues, and supporters.  My special thanks go to Stefan Habbecke, who brought me to Mugen back then, to Koji Sanada, my long-time mentor, to Soichi Shizi, with whom I was in contact almost daily, as well as to Dirk Drechsler and all the other employees of the company.

I would also like to thank all customers and my friends for their support – especially Ronald, with whom I was able to spend most of my time over the past years.  And of course everyone else who I cannot mention here by name, as the list would simply be too long. It has been an honor!

I am looking forward to my new challenge.  You will learn more about it soon.
Best regards, all the very best for the future, and a happy new year!

Robert
