8th Edition of MonTech NYGP underway at 360V2

The 8th edition of the MonTech New York Grand Prix got underway today with drivers enjoying a day of practice at 360v2 RC Raceway in New Rochelle ahead of the serious race weekend action. Arriving yesterday afternoon and setting up his pit so he could get going straightaway today when the track opened for practice, Isaacs explained, ‘as I didn’t know if I would be able to make to the race, I had to scramble a little bit to throw my 1:12 together so I think that is going to take some work and also getting used to the driving again with the foam tyres. It is just a lot more reactive and different and hopefully we can pick it back up again and very quickly.’ A fan of the track, he said, ‘I think the track here is great. Donny (Lia) makes it with the soft walls and the curbing, I mean there is really no hard boards to hit so body’s last a long time. It also makes for really good racing with high consistency rates. I think the track is inch by inch exactly the same as last so it will be cool to have a lap time comparison even through we are on a different tyres last year.’

Asked about his day, Anderson who is racing here together with his Eric, said, ‘We left Nashville at 06:3o this morning so we got at like 11:00.’ One of his favourite races of the year, the 24-year-old added, ‘I’ve been working on my TC all day, I haven’t really run my 1:12 at all yet, because I am trying to get more grip in to the touring car.’ The 1:12 Mod Champion here 2-years ago, on the track, the layout the same as last year, he said, ‘I like this layout. I think it flows really well and it’s good for a big race. The racing is pretty clean on it.’ Asked if there was any reason he was mainly focused on his Touring Car, the Awesomatix driver replied, ‘It just hasn’t been great and 1:12 usually shapes up to be pretty good here. We had NYGP and the Nats n the past year and my car has been pretty in both of those.’ Asked to sum up his progress with his touring car over the day, he said, ‘it’s getting better, still some work to do but it’s getting better.’

Arriving from Canada yesterday evening and setting up his pit area, Hebert said he retired to bed ‘very early’ as he was not feeling 100%. Despite not getting the best of night’s sleep, Hebert described today as ‘a good day of practice’ as he completed ‘a lot of mileage’. With the Xray team present in New York with three prototype 1:12 cars, Hebert said he split his day 50/50 between the 1:12 car and his regular X4’26 Touring Car. On his performance he said, ‘I am close to the pace I think in Touring Car and the 1:12 is good but I think Oillie (Payne) might have the upper hand for now (in 1:12). That said it is always tough to say for 8-minutes, there is so much that can change throughout the run.’ He added, ‘I think he’s got a little bit the upper hand now but we will work and try to make that gap a little smaller.’ Making a return to the NYGP having missed last year, on the track layout the Quebec racer said, ‘it is super nice, it’s 360’s typically layout but it has a good flow and it should be a good layout to race people on.’

Senior Minister of State officially re-opened RCMC Marine Parade

While all attention was on the Singapore International Nitro Grand Prix marking the return of racing to the country’s only permanent track over the weekend, for the club behind the renewed RCMC Marine Parade track welcoming Senior Minster of State Mr. Goh Pei Ming to officially re-open the circuit was a significant occasion for the future of the club’s home. With a certain Kimi Antonelli bringing world attention on the track when he did a few hours of 1:8 Nitro testing on the new asphalt ahead of the Singapore F1 Grand Prix, Sunday morning would see the Minister perform the official ribbon cutting to mark the track’s reopening. Minister Pei Ming would also make a special presentation on behalf of the club to Kenji Taira owner of Infinity who have been the title sponsor of the Singapore International Nitro Grand Prix for many years. The presentation was in recognition of Taira’s support & contribution to the club. Following the presentation, the Minister then flagged off an exhibition race that included a starting grid of no less than 9-IFMAR World Champions! With racing having become somewhat compromised by the development of key bumps in the track’s 12-year-old surface, the country’s RC Community came together to crowd fund the re-surfacing so as to safeguard the track’s future as not only a venue for local racer but also as a venue to put Singapore on the international RC racing calendar with races like the Singapore International Nitro Grand Prix and the Electric Singapore International Challenge (eSIC). After a year off this year to allow for track work eSIC returns in 2027. With funding of the new asphalt a project led by Daryl Thong, work on the track was started in mid June and took only a week to complete however behind the scene the fund raising took a huge effort and many months of work. For his efforts, it was only fitting that Thong would be Race Director for the first race on the new surface and thanks to the new super smooth asphalt the weekend witnessed the track record tumble numerous times.

ROAR Adopts New Touring Car Body Rules

ROAR, the the sanctioning body for RC racing in the United States & Canada, has announced it has approved additional technical specifications for 1:10 Touring Car bodies. With new competition body shell releases always divisive regarding the direction they have taken, on October 13th the ROAR Executive Committee voted on the new specs that have been added to the ROAR Rule Book (Pages 17-20). These new rules will take effect, and the temporary moratorium on body approvals will end, on November 1, 2026. The Body Submission Form has also been updated with a few additional requirements effective immediately. All TC bodies that were on the Approved List before the new rule was enacted, will remain legal for use at the upcoming 2026 Electric On-Road Pavement Nationals event at Valkaria Raceway in Florida. All new TC bodies must now meet the updated specs in order to be added to the ROAR-Approved List. Any previously approved bodies that no longer conform to the updated TC specs will be removed from the ROAR-Approved List on December 31, 2026.

T-works has released these new Aluminium Wide Offset Wheel Hubs for the Team Associated RC8 T4.2 1:8 Truggy platform. Machined from 7075-T6 aluminium they are treated with a specialised black anodisation process for strength and durability. Their lightweight design boosts the truck’s acceleration, handling and fuel efficiency. With a slotted lock pin minimising risk of loosening and a complete set of four or sets of two, the +4mm Offset Wheel Hub weighs 5.2 grams while the 11.5 Offset Front Wheel Hub weighs 6 grams.

JConcepts S15 F8 SE Body

JConcepts has added to its S15 body shell line-up with a variant for the F8 SE 1:8 Buggy from Sparko. The latest platform from Sparko came with several new features to design around for the Florida company. The S15 blends performance features from the popular Silencer body with new features such as mid-body winglets and rear stabilizer kick-up. The roof of the body remains strong with the upper fin in position for stability and tracking ability. A lot of attention to detail went into this S15 to wrap the sideguards in a natural way, position user generated cut-outs around steering geometry and proper locations for front and rear body mount positioning. Each body comes with an exterior protective film, window mask and decal sheet.

Team GFRP 2027 Weapon Midget Car Kit

New from Dirt oval specialists Team GFRP comes the 2027 Weapon Midget which takes the base of their 2025 Weapon and the upgrades of the 2026 RCCB winning Midget to create a cutting edge stock racing platform. The 27 Weapon has kept the dual bell crank steering platform, but has updated to 70mm molded arms and a new style caster block to allow a better steering response. Adjustability through the rear end has broadened completely. The rear shock tower has doubled its options for mounting the rear shocks to allow for more tuning. The 2025 Layback transmission with its 39T idler gear appropriates less wear and more smooth power delivery. The diff height adjusters pair with the new plunge rear axles to change the geometry of the dog bones. The transmission changes are integrated with new 0/3 toe blocks, a wider outer rear 75mm long molded arm, and a lighter rear camber link mount to adjust for more track conditions. The kit also features the big bore springs and lowered spring cups to enable a better baseline for the car.
