Garcia appointed IFMAR Interim IC Section Chairman

Well respected race referee and former EFRA President Javier Garcia has been appointed the IFMAR Interim IC Section Chairman.  Making the announcement over the weekend, the Spaniard will take over the role for the remainder of the 2026 season from Sander de Graaf.  After decades of service to the World governing body, Dutch native Graff made his final appearance in the role at the 1:8 Onroad World Championship in Chile last December.  Garcia, who has vast experience of the sport having served as president of the European governing body for 5-years and referred numerous World Championships, has always been respected for his approachability and his ambition for the better promotion of racing and the RC hobby in general as well as always striving for a better racing experience for racers attending sanctioned events.  In being appointed to the role, Garcia has promised to prepare a 4-year plan with the goal of leading IFMAR into a much needed new era as an organisation.

Dear RC friends around the world ,

After some conversations and meetings with IFMAR, I want to announce that we agreed with the compromise to be the IFMAR INTERIM IC SECTION CHAIRMAN until the end of the 2026 season. Then, IFMAR will open the candidatures for IFMAR IC SECTION CHAIRMAN for 2027 and beyond.

It will be again a challenging task for me, working for our loved #rcmotorsport .  I will do my best to promote 2026 IFMAR EVENTS around the World and to help EFRA FAMAR ROAR FEMCA to lead International RC scene in 2026 and beyond.

I will put my energy in 3 main goals:

1. I will attend IFMAR IC meetings in 2026 (MRTM Lostallo, Club Automodellistico 5 Colli and TEXAS) acting as IFMAR interim Section Chairman, being responsible of those events from IFMAR side on the track.
2. I will create, according of last IFMAR IC meeting, IFMAR IC commission/working group, with the best group of persons to lead IFMAR IC section around the World together with the BLOCS.
3. I will prepare a 4-year plan by the end of the year to apply for the IFMAR IC SC position and lead IFMAR IC Section into a new era in the organisation of IFMAR events, improving general quality, communication, marketing and driver experience.

I want to thanks IFMAR board for the confidence and Sander de Graaf for his many years of service acting as IFMAR IC Section Chairman.

A special mention to my National Federation AECAR, such an incredible group of people working for #rcmotorsport in Spain where I got motivation again to be back at the international scene. THANKS guys!!
