Double German Title Weekend for Gruber

Capricorn’s Toni Gruber pulled off a title double over the weekend as he lifted both the DMC German National title for 1:8 Onroad and 1:10 Nitro Touring Car.  Racing at the AMC-Hamm track, with daily rain making for ever changing conditions, qualifying would see the multiple World Championship finalist secure the TQ honours in both categories.  In 1:10, Gruber took pole position ahead of team-mates & former ENS Champions Jakub Rozycki and Melvin Diekmann.  In 1:8, it was Infinity driver Tobias Hepp who was Gruber’s closest challenger in qualifying securing P2 ahead of Maximilian Vogl and defending Champion Marco Weigerding.  With Touring Car final up first, Gruber would cruise to a comfortable win ahead of Diekmann and with Rozycki a non starter to the 45-minute encounter it was Fabio Arpino who completed the podium.  With 1:8 attracting 3-times the 1:10 entry, meaning Semi finals for those qualifying outside the Top 4, Gruber would again take a convincing win after Weigerding, who set the fastest lap of the race, retired from P2.  Coming through from P9 on the grid Serpent backed up & coming talent Thilo Baldes would take second with Vogl completing the podium.
