2nd Mibosport Offroad Meeting – Report

The 2nd Mibosport Offroad Meeting was held the last weekend at the Mibosport Off-road Arena’s astroturf track in Trebic. Unfortunately only 27 drivers signed in for the event with 15 drivers attending in the 2WD class and 12 drivers opted to run their 4WD buggies. Free practice was run on Friday afternoon with two timed practice rounds on Saturday morning. The fastest drivers in timed practice were Michal Orlowski in the 2WD class and Radek Flek in the 4WD class.

The qualifying of the 2WD buggy class saw Radek Flek taking TQ with a time of 5:15.001 and 13 laps in front of Marek Schiller who managed to beat a very ambitious Michal Orlowski. Despite some technical problems and setup issues, Michal was able to put his buggy in 3rd on the grid. The first A-main brought a very interesting battle between Radek Flek and Michal Orlowski. Some very fast mid-race laps handed Michal the lead that he kept till the end of the race. Radek finished 2nd ahead of Dominik Mašek.

The second A-main again went to Michal Orlowski as Radek Flek made a few mistakes and lost the lead, meaning Michal would grab the overall win in the 2WD class. Radek Flek finished second ahead of Marcel Dostal. Michal then opted to sit out A3 in order to allow the other drivers to battle for the win in the final leg. This time Radek Flek was on spot and he won the final to take the overall runner-up spot. Marek Schiller finished 2nd to secure the overall 3rd place ahead of Marcel Dostal and Dominik Masek. The B final was then won by Pavel Holcak.

The battle for the TQ in the 4WD buggy class was a bit more dramatic. Michal Orlowski won the first heat, Radek Flek took the win in the next two heats and the 4th qualifier went to Michal again. The 5th heat was won Radek and he eventually took the TQ ahead of Michal and Dominik Sulc while a very disappointed Martin Zvara only took the BQ due to technical problems.

Elsewhere in the A-final the battle between Michal Orlowski and Radek Flek went on. The first A-main saw a very tough fight between these two drivers from start to finish. After two laps, Michal lost his lead due to a mistake handing Radek the win. Michal Orlowski finished second ahead of Dominik Sulc.

The second A-main was won by Michal Orlowski who drove almost flawlessly ahead of Radek Flek and Dominik Sulc. In the deciding 3rd A-main, Radek Flek made a mistake again and lost his lead to Michal Orlowski who comfortably won the final for the overall win in the 4WD class. Due to electronical problems on Radek’s buggy, Dominik Sulc was able to take the 2nd place which handed him the 3rd place in the final result. The overall win though went to Michal Orlowski who brought home a double win. Radek Flek came in 2nd and Matej Sulc took the win in the B-final.
