Tamiya TRF211XM & TRF102 – Teaser images

Tamiya TRF211XM & TRF102 – Teaser images

Tamiyablog got their hands on first images of Tamiya’s forthcoming TRF211XM 2WD buggy and TRF102 formula kits. Starting with the buggy, the front and rear section looks pretty close to the successful TRF201XMW, the car that took the vice-championship at the 2013 IFMAR World Championships, but the main feature is the new tub chassis that will be made of a new composite material that, from what is understood, will offer different flex characteristics compared to a standard composite part in that it is more rigid without sacrificing the car’s grip characteristics. More information will become available during this week’s Shizuoka Hobby Show.

Seen as a rendering before, Tamiya’s TRF102 formula chassis is the (r)evolution of the TRF101 with a redesigned front end that makes use of upper composite arms in favour of the previous carbon fibre parts. The front will also see a new servo mount with the largest design step being the rear T-bar suspension that drops the somewhat “industry standard” link-type suspension for an assembly that reminds on the early ages of RC formula cars. Tamiya states that the T-bar suspension is better suited for bumpy outdoor tracks as it allows for improved traction without hampering agility. As with the TRF211XM we await more detailed information once this week’s Shizuoka Hobby Show kicks off.
