BRCA Touring Car National Series Rd2 – Report

Mendip is one of the UK’s oldest and well established tracks, and this past weekend it hosted round two of the BRCA Touring Car series and witnessed a win for Chris Grainger. Chris took the TQ with his Team Associated car and went on to dominate the finals ahead of the Schumacher of Elliott Harper. Starting fourth was Andy Moore and he made his way through a close fought mid field to complete the podium ahead of round winner Olly Jefferies and Capricorn driver Stef Chodzynski. The result for Grainger puts him in the championship hunt and marks his first major win since joining Team Associated at the start of the season.

In the Pro Stock class Glen Westwood took pole position with his Xray ahead of the Team Associated of Mark Wallace and round one winner Zak Finlay. A scrappy first final saw Ben Putt stay out of trouble and take his first national final A-final leg win. In the second of the three leg finals it was Westwood who came out on top, this set up a tense final leg with five drivers capable of taking the overall win. Xray driver Zak Finlay put in a strong drive to take leg three and take the win, his second of the season, while James Hart was second for Schumacher while another Schumacher driver, Chris Gunter, kept out of trouble in the finals to complete the podium, Mark Wallace and Lee Price completed the top five making it four Schumacher’s in the top five.
