Ratheisky takes opening Pro Stock qualifiers at ETS Austria

Jan Ratheisky has taken the opening two Pro Stock qualifiers at the opening round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Vienna, Austria.  Having topped seeding yesterday, the German kicked off Day 2 of the event with a very convincing TQ run with him finishing over 5-seconds clear of his rivals.  Behind, Mustafa Alp was the only other driver to run 23 laps, the Turkish driver again excelling on Austrian soil having famously TQ’d the final round of modified qualifying in Traiskirchen back in 2012. Helge Johannessen would complete the Top 3, the big Norwegian finishing just ahead of reigning champion Alexandre Duchet and Max Mächler. In the second qualifier, Ratheisky would have to work much harder for his TQ.  Having rolled his Awesomatix in Q1, Mächler swapped the TQ pace with the Xray driver throughout the 5-minutes but despite setting the fastest lap would eventually finish 9/10th off. Behind, Duchet had a roll, pulling up at the half way mark, while former DHI Cup Pro Stock Champion Tim Benson completed the Top 3 ahead of Simon Lauter and Alp.

Rheinard takes opening qualifier of new ETS season

Marc Rheinard has taken the first qualifier of the new season of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series.  Sixth fastest in seeding practice but confident he had a good car over 5-minutes, the Infinity driver delivered the only 24-lap time to TQ the first of the four qualifiers in Vienna. Behind, Awesomatix’ Viljami Kutvanen would set the second fastest time, missing out on making 24-laps by half a second, with Ronald Volker completing the Top 3 a second off the Finn’s pace.  Having topped seeding, it wasn’t to be a good start for defending champion Bruno Coelho.  From the start the Xray driver had the first of a number of moments when he got loose but it was contact with the boards at the end of the main straight that ended his chances of the TQ as his car needed to be marshalled.

Coelho from Volker in controlled practice at ETS opener

A new season of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series got underway in Vienna, Austria, today with practice ending with a familiar theme to last season as Bruno Coelho topped the times.  Having topped free practice, the Xray driver would lay down the fastest 3-consecutive laps in the first of the controlled practice runs with no one able to better the pace in the second and final practice.  It would be Ronald Volker who would top CP2, but like Coelho he couldn’t beat his earlier time.  Behind, Alexander Hagberg would complete the Top 3, the Xray driver improving his time in CP2 by more than 4/10ths of a second.  Also improving in CP2, Naoki Akiyama is seeded P4 for qualifying ahead of Infinity pairing Akio Sobue and Marc Rheinard.

ETS enters new decade in Vienna

After celebrating the completion of 10 seasons of world class racing back in July, the Yokomo Euro Touring Series is set to enter into a second decade of high profile competition as Vienna hosts the opening round of Season #11 this weekend (27-29 October). Taking place as part of the ‘Modellbau 2017’ model show in the Austrian Capital, the 58th race of the ETS also marks the 8th consecutive season of Yokomo being the title sponsor of the Uwe Rheinard and Scotty Ernst created championship with the Japanese manufacturer one of a number of teams looking to take on the domination of a certain Bruno Coelho. As back to back champion, Coelho enters into only his fourth season of the ETS as the pre-season favourite. Also champion of the Euro Offroad Series and the Euro Nitro Series, last season the Xray driver claimed a record 5 wins from 6 races and getting fed up of being in the shadow of the Portuguese driver his rivals are more determined than ever to change this over the coming season.

Coelho does the double at EOS Poland

Bruno Coelho has opened the new season of the Euro Offroad Series in the best way possible with the Xray driver doing the double in Poland adding the 4WD win to yesterday’s 2WD victory with another faultless performance in A2.  Also securing the bonus point on offer for the TQ, the reigning 4WD Champion finds himself already three points in the lead of both the 2WD & 4WD standings.  Having secured his first ever EOS double at the penultimate round of last season’s championship, today’s 4WD victory marks the World Champion’s 7th win in the class setting him up perfectly to become the first driver to do equal Joern Neumann record of 3-consecutive EOS title wins.  Behind Coelho the 4WD podium would be, as it was in 2WD, an all Xray affair with Bayer winning A3 to secure second overall with Daniel Kobbevik having a great weekend to claim his first EOS podium.  Ty Tessmann would claim 4th on his EOS debut with David Ronnefalk best of the rest, the HB Racing driver being the top non Xray driver with 5th, having been in contention for a podium placing before a coming together with Tessmann in A3.

Coelho wins A1 from Kobbevik

Bruno Coelho has taken an easy win in the first A-Main of 4WD at the Euro Offroad Series in Poland.  The Xray driver quickly pulled clear of the field from his TQ starting position to have an uneventful race.  Behind the reigning champion however there was plenty of action with Daniel Kobbevik picking up the pieces after errors by his more senior rivals.  David Ronnefalk would complete the Top 3, the 1:8 World Champion showing good pace against Ty Tessmann and Martin Bayer but coming together with the latter during the 5-minute encounter.

Coelho to start title defence from pole

Bruno Coelho is to start his 4WD title defence from pole with the Xray driving securing the overall 4WD TQ in Warsaw, Poland.  The Portuguese driver went into the fourth & final qualifier with only team-mate Martin Bayer able to deny him from becoming Top Qualifier for a second time at the Euro Offroad Series season opener.  Setting the TQ pace from team-mate Ty Tessmann he however suffered a CVD failure on his final lap allowing Tessmann post his first TQ run of his EOS debut weekend.  Behind, David Ronnefalk would back up his P3 in Q3 with a second for the round.  This result will see the HB Racing driver start as the best non Xray driver in 4th behind Bayer and youngster Daniel Kobbevik, Xray having a total of six cars in the A-Main.

Coelho opens Day 3 of EOS Poland with TQ

It the 3rd and final day of racing at EOS Poland and Bruno Coelho has kicked things off by posting his second 4WD TQ run.  The Xray driver again had a distinct advantage topping the times by almost 4 and a half seconds from team-mate Ty Tessmann.  With Xray having filling the Top 3 in yesterday’s first two rounds of qualifying, that domination was finally broken as HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk took the third quickest time.  Having been part of the Xray Top 3s yesterday, taking the opening qualifier, Martin Bayer would have a messy run ending up P11.  Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski not impressed with the Czech’s driving, the Pole classified 32nd for the round after being hit in the rear by Bayer during the qualifier.
