Arrowmax B-Max 4 III CF chassis plate

Arrowmax B-Max 4 III CF chassis plate

Arrowmax have released a new carbon fibre chassis plate for the popular Yokomo B-Max 4 III. A direct replacement for the standard chassis it has been created to create more flex for low bite tracks and weights only 66g, instead of the original plate weight of 127g. Arrowmax have used a special Q-grade multi-directional carbon fibre, which generates more transverse stiffness compared to most other carbon fibre plates. A special honeycomb cooling area under the motor improves the airflow for lower motor temperatures.

Petition to save Mike’s Hobby Shop

Petition to save Mike's Hobby Shop

Through our live event coverage we get to travel to many r/c facilities around the world meeting many great people along the way. One facility and person to make a lasting impression on us is Mike’s Hobby Shop in Texas which is owned by all round good guy Mike Darnell.  Having been twice to Mike’s haven for r/c enthusiasts, once for a round of Scotty Ernst’s Short Course Showdown Nationwide Tour and again for a round of JConcept’s Indoor National Series, we were more than impressed by what the place but also the great work Mike does in particular with encouraging younger generations in our sport.  Unfortunately expansion work to Highway I-35 mean that Mike’s Hobby Shop, which would easily feature in a Top 10 of the worlds greatest rc facilities, could be halved in size under current State of Texas proposals meaning it will no longer be a viable operation.  Supporters of the facility and Mike, who is one of those guys that goes beyond the call of duty for our hobby, have created a petition that we would encourage you to sign in the hope that this great facility can be saved and continue to viably operate.  If you would like to play your part you can sign the petition by clicking here.

Driving Technology

Driving Technology

I’m sure that when schools in the distant future study the early 21st Century as part of their history lessons, the one thing that will stand out to define this period of time will be the development of technology that has occurred. We’re now becoming a world full of gadgets, apps and connectivity, and scarcely a week goes by without some new product being launched.

Ermen wins wet ENS Round 2

Ermen wins wet ENS Round 2

Team Xray’s John Ermen made the perfect debut in the Euro Nitro Series as he overcame less than perfect conditions in Austria to win the second round of the new nitro onroad championship.  Having had to miss the season opener in a sunny Italy last month due to clashing date with his National Championship, the Dutch driver would survive the super wet conditions of the Aigen track to win the 45-minute endurance test to win by two laps from Shepherd’s Simon Kurzbuch.  Driving under the Team fahr(T)raum banner local star Michael Klausner completing the podium with his Mugen.  The race saw five different leaders but they would all, including Ermen, suffer from the horrible wet conditions.  Making the perfect start and pulling clear of the field one of the first drivers to fall fowl of water in his engine was Top Qualifier Oliver Mack.  The Shepherd driver would end the race as the last classified finisher in 8th one place behind the Mugen of No.2 qualifier Robert Pietsch.

Greiner overcomes rain to reign in Aigen

Greiner overcomes rain to reign in Aigen

Team Serpent’s Dominic Greiner overcame a drenched Aigen track to win a race of attrition at Round 2 of the Euro Nitro Series in Austria. Starting from third on the grid, the 21-year-old took an early lead only to fall foul of water in his engine but a body tuck would prove the turning point in his return to the front. At the end of the 45-minute encounter his new 748 Natrix took a four lap win over Team Shepherd pairing of Patrick Schafer and Martin Lissau, both of whom enjoyed long stints at leading the 12-car field until they too succumbed to water issues. Getting passed off the start line by Shepherd team-mate Dirk Wischnewski, Top Qualifier Francesco Tironi’s race would quickly go down hill with the Italian suffering particularly badly with water in his engine. The season opener runner-up would struggle through the painful to watch race to finish 9th, two places behind Melzo winner Eric Dankel, who also had a bad day at the office.

Mack & Greiner take 3rd Qualifier at ENS

Mack & Greiner take 3rd Qualifier at ENS

Overnight TQ holder Oliver Mack moved a step closer to the overall TQ for Round 2 of the Euro Nitro Series in Austria as he again topped the times in the third of the four qualifiers.  Another wet day at the Aigen track, the Shepherd driver was fastest from Mugen’s Robert Pietsch with BMT’s Daniele Ielasi completing the Top 3.  In 1:10, only a hand full of drivers took to the wet track with Serpent’s Dominic Greiner in a completely different class running almost a full lap more than the Shepherd of Leonardo Varga with Q2 pace setter Dirk Wischnewski 3rd.

MIP’s Pucks Shiny drive system is now available for the SC10 & T4 trucks. Made from steel, retaining the same overall weight that you are used to with your steel OEM drivetrain, these give you the added benefit of MIP Pucks that are fully serviceable. No longer will diff outdrives and CV bones wear simultaneously, with the puck system all that is needed to change are the Pucks when necessary meaning your drivetrain stays fresher longer. This added benefit equates to less money, less time off the track for rebuilds, and keeps your vehicle more competitive.

Pro-Line Electron tire & Velocity VTR wheels

Pro-Line Electron tire & Velocity VTR wheels

Pro-Line have unveiled their new Electron 1/10th rear tire, available in M4 Super Soft and MC Clay compounds. The Electron shares close family ties with Pro-Line’s popular ION tire with the iconic dirt grabbing centre tread and futuristic styling. Featuring connected tire tread technology to improve traction and wear on even the most abrasive of indoor track conditions, the square centre pins laid out between the connected tread provide consistent forward and side bite even when the track gets dusty.  PL have also introduced their new Velocity VTR 2.4” front wheels. The VTR wheels introduce the horizontal mounting style common in 1:8 Nitro and brings it to the precision environment of the 1:10 racing scene, resulting in a lightweight tire/wheel package. The tire mounting surface has been increased from 2.2” to 2.4” giving the tire a lower profile sidewall and ultimately more traction. Suitable for the front of the 2wd 22, RB6, B4.2 and B5 and a separate version for the 4wd B44.2 they are available in yellow or white.
