A quick update from Tekno RC whose drivers Lucas Sanford, Ryan Hughes, Daniel Lewis and Matt Wolter took the top 4 spots in 1/8th Electric Buggy at the final round of the Snowman series, hosted by ARC in Temecula, CA. Lucas took 1st place overall, while Ryan took 2nd overall for the series. The drivers were all running prototype Tekno RC 1/8th electric buggies.

TLR have announced the signing of JR Mitch to the TLR team, Spektrum, Orion and Horizon Hobby. With JR’s lively attitude on and off the track and long history of racing experience makes JR a perfect fit at TLR. JR will be a key driver in the Florida area along with the east coast racing scene. JR will attend both electric and nitro races for TLR throughout the year with his first big event being the upcoming Neo Race in England. JR will also attend the 1/8th Off-Road World Championship in Argentina later this year. JR Mitch had this to say:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank AE/Reedy for more than ten years of support and guidance in racing. There are a few people who stand out to me for making a significant impact during my time with this company. I would like to give special recognition to: Cliff Lett, Brent Thielke, Richard Saxton, and Rick Hohwart. At this point in time, I am not leaving AE/Reedy with any hard feelings. Expanding their body range, JConcepts have introduced the MP9 and RC8.2 Finnisher shells. Increased windshield angle provides a steady force upfront during mid-flight wind gusts on large jumps while the forward cab placement changes performance / visible bias which helps steering rotation in low traction corners. The side-pods have a strong and chiseled look, including a recessed area in the rear which allows another option for air-escape. The chassis side-guard to body fit has been tightened up which helps eliminate large empty voids that contribute to mid-flight directional changes. The area behind the cab has been greatly lowered exposing more of the engine heat-sink allowing more heat-escape while the V-stepped feature which is a highlighted styling cue of the Finnisher buggy bodies has been incorporated toward the rear and allows an additional area that can be trimmed to allow air-flow through the body.

Bitty Design have released their 8.2 Force body shell for the Associated RC8.2. Different from their other cab forward they focussed on making a good looking shell that fits the chassis well and makes the car easy to drive. Their tests revealed a balanced body which give better feeling while driving, the lap times are not better but the handling was more consistent in long runs. The body is sold complete with windows masks, decal and protective film and has been produced with high quality 1mm Lexan.

By unanimous vote of the ROAR Executive Committee, the proposal selected for the 2013 IFMAR Electric Off-Road Worlds is from Silver Dollar Raceway in Chico, California, operated by A-Main Hobbies. In recognition of the time and effort that goes into preparing a proposal for such an event, ROAR would like to thank the other facilities that submitted proposals. The other facilities that were under consideration are top notch racing venues and the decision as to which to choose was difficult. The Silver Dollar Raceway will be a first class facility that will provide great competition and a high level of visibility trackside for local spectators and worldwide from broadcast media. ROAR looks forward with great anticipation to this landmark event, and congratulates Silver Dollar Raceway as the host.

Christopher Krapp has secured both his and Kyosho’s first win in the Euro Touring Series after a thrilling second A-Main that saw the 19-year-old hang on to take his second win of the day and put the Gran Canaria victory beyond the reach of the World class field of drivers. Top Qualifier for the first ETS visit to the Spanish holiday island Krapp, who took the second A-Main ahead of Tamiya’s Marc Rheinard and Viktor Wilck, said it had been an ‘Awesome weekend with everything finally coming to together for him.

Christopher Krapp has won the opening A-Main of the Ride Modified class at the Euro Touring Series in Gran Canaria. The Top Qualifier drove the perfect race staying calm throughout to hold off a late challenge from World Champion Marc Rheinard with Alexander Hagberg completing the Top 3.
