4WD to be decided in 3rd Main as Neumann wins A2

sun_jornA2

Joern Neumann took a surprise win in A2 of 4WD Buggy at the DHI Cup, the 4-time reigning champion benefiting from a number of incidents involving A1 winner Bruno Coelho. Starting from the TQ, World Champion Coelho would get his landing wrong coming out of the back jump section on the first lap allowing Michal Orlowski to go to the front. The Schumacher driver would stay there for two laps but then as Coelho tried a move on the inside the pair made contact dropping both back down the order. This handed David Ronnefalk the lead but it would be brief, the HB driver making a mistake a few corners later at the table top with fourth place starter Neumann finding himself suddenly at the front. The Serpent driver would stay there despite a number of challenges, one of which came from Ronnefalk until a clearly faster Coelho tried a pass. Ronnefalk saying ‘I got taken out. I know I wasn’t fast but you don’t have to take someone out’. In the end it would be Martin Bayer who would come in second with Orlowski getting third ahead of Coelho, meaning A3 will decide the overall winner.

New season but no change as Volker tops DHI practice

fri_volkerpan

It is the long established opening international race of the new season, but the early signs from the DHI Cup is that little has changed for 2016 with Ronald Volker topping the practice times in Odense.  Closest to the 6-time winner of the Danish classic would be Alexander Hagberg, the gap over 3-consecutive laps being 1/10th of a second.  Winner of the event in 2013, then driving for Xray, Adrien Berntsen would complete the Top 3 for new Danish manufacturer Gizmo with Viljami Kutvonen making it four different manufacturers at the top of the time sheets with his Awesomatix.

Rheinard opens new ETS season with Czech win

sun_marcwinner-620x372

Marc Rheinard has won the opening round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in the Czech Republic.  The Tamiya driver claimed the victory with a win in the third A-Main over Ronald Volker and Bruno Coelho, that also being the final order they would step on the podium in Hrotovice.  After the thrilling last lap finish to A1, in which reigning champion Volker snatched the win from the Top Qualifier, A2 & 3 would be more straight forward for Rheinard despite Volker’s best efforts.  An event that has been won each season by the champion elect, the win is a major boost for Rheinard and Tamiya in their ongoing quest to win back the title. Last winning the race in 2009/10, the race has since been the reign of Volker & Yokomo in their run of five consecutive championship titles. With the bonus point for TQ and his 14th ETS win, Rheinard travels to Round 2 in German in February, where he took his only win last year, with maximum Championship points.

Rheinard takes comfortable A2 win

sun_rhevolcoe-620x372

Having had an A1 win snatched off him by Ronald Volker at the end of the final lap last night, Top Qualifier Marc Rheinard claimed a comfortable win in the second A-Main of the Yokomo Euro Tourig Series season opener in the Czech Republic.  Leading from start to finish, a late charge from Volker would reducing Rheinard’s winning margin to half a second, the Tamiya driver was never under real pressure as on Volker and Coelho took turns at rolling.  With the Top 3 breaking clear of the pack,  Volker would as the race entered the second half roll out of the 3-car train promoting Coelho to second.  That position change would only last a lap as Coelho would also roll his Xray handing the place back to the Yokomo driver, causing them to spread out and while Volker would take over a second out of Rheinard’s ending the race with three 12-second laps, the order remained unchanged with Coelho finishing 1.8-seconds back from Volker.

Rheinard on pole for ETS Season opener

sat_marcTQ-620x372

Marc Rheinard will start the A-Main at the opening round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in the Czech Republic from pole position.  The Tamiya driver claimed the overall TQ despite Ronald Volker putting in a second TQ run in the final qualifier. With the fastest time of the four rounds which was set in Q3, this would give Rheinard the tie breaker and secure him his first pole since Round 2 last season in Muelheim-Kaerlich.  Starting behind the long standing German rivals will be Bruno Coelho, the Xray driver having been on target to top the final heat and secure second on the grid until he rolled as the heat entered the final 2-minutes.  Runner-up behind Volker in Hrotovice last year, Alexander Hagberg starts 4th with 2014 podium finisher Yannic Prumper completing the top half of the grid.

Rheinard repeats in Q3 to again head Xray duo

sat_marc-copy-620x372

Marc Rheinard repeated his morning’s qualifying performance at the opening round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series, the Tamiya driver putting in a second & faster TQ run in the third & penultimate qualifier at the Czech Republic event.  Again fighting it out over the 5-minutes with Xray’s Bruno Coelho, both just 8/10th shy of making 24 laps, the gap at the end would be a much closer 0.025 of a second.  Making it a carbon copy of Q2, Alexander Hagberg continued as Mr. Consistent as he again was 3rd fastest in front of last night’s Q1 pace setter Ronald Volker.
