Volker is Top Qualifier in Luxembourg

sat_ronTQ-620x372

Ronald Volker has moved a step closer to clinching a fifth consecutive Euro Touring Series championship title after the Yokomo ace claimed the overall TQ in Luxembourg.  His 18th time to become Top Qualifier, the German secured pole position for tomorrow’s penultimate round of Season #8 when he completed a perfect day at Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg” with a third TQ run in the fourth & final round of qualifying.  Denying Volker the TQ in the opening qualifier last night, a late P3 in the final heat will see Alexander Hagberg start from second on the grid. Behind the Swede, Volker’s bonus TQ championship point ending his title hopes, HB’s Jilles Groskamp will start third followed by Xray’s Bruno Coelho.  Volker’s other two title rivals Marc Rheinard and Yannic Prumper start 6th and 8th respectively meaning the are going to need to pull off something impressive if they are to force the title to go to the season finale at the Hudy Arena next month.

Volker takes ‘surprise TQ’ ahead of Groskamp

sat_ronaldriv-620x372

Ronald Volker took a ‘surprise TQ run’ in the second round of qualifying on another cold day at the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Luxembourg. The Yokomo driver overcame difficult conditions rising to the top of the timing screen where he would finish 4/10ths of a seconds up on HB’s Jilles Groskamp with Yokomo team-mate Loic Jasmin completing the Top 3 a further 2.2 seconds back.  A round that would see most of the front runners suffer spins, Q1 pace setter Alexander Hagberg was one of such drivers with the Swede pulling off after just a lap due to having ‘no traction’.

Hagberg takes cold opening qualifier in Luxembourg

fri_hagbergg-620x372

Alexander Hagberg has topped a very cold opening round of qualifying at Round 5 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Luxembourg.  A day which was effected by rain, the Xray driver topped the late qualifier from Yokomo’s Ronald Volker and Tamiya’s Marc Rheinard, the three covered by 2/10ths of a second.  With track conditions dry but extremely cold for the first of the weekend’s four scheduled qualifiers it was Hagberg’s team-mate Bruno Coelho who set the early TQ pace.  Starting second behind top seed Volker, the Portuguese driver would catch the German but on passing him would clip the curbing and put his car on its roof.  Continuing for one more lap once marshalled the always spectacular driver would then opt to pull off to save his tyres having lost almost 3-seconds due to his mistake.

Volker tops free practice as rain haults proceedings

fri_ronald-620x372

Rain haulted proceedings at Round 5 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Luxembourg just as controlled practice was due to get underway at Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg”.  Having started off a dry day, allowing two rounds of free practice to be completed, the heavy rain left race organisers with no choice but to stop the event with the free practice times now expected to determine the reseeding of the qualifying heats. The free practice times would produce no surprises with last year’s race winner Ronald Volker fastest from team-mate Yannic Prumper.  Behind them Xray’s Bruno Coelho completed the Top 3 in front of Marc Rheinard.
