sat_volkerTQ

Ronald Volker is Top Qualifier for the fourth round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series, another fastest run in the third qualifier of the Austrian event securing the German his 14th pole position start of the championship. Claiming his third valuable bonus TQ championship point of Season #7, the defending champion was the only driver to do 24-laps in Q3, topping the round from Tamiya Factory Racing team-mates Viktor Wilck and Marc Rheinard. With two from four rounds counting towards the final order Q4 will decide who lines up behind the defending champion on the grid with five drivers in contention. A US boards style track, something that has not been seen in the ETS before, grid position is expected to play a big part in the racing with drivers predicting it will be tough to pass on the narrow and unforgiving track.

Volker TQs opening ETS qualifier in Austria

Volker TQs opening ETS qualifier in Austria

Ronald Volker has TQ’d the opening round of qualifying at the fourth round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Mattsee, Austria. Having set the pace in practice at the fahr(T)raum event to lead away the top heat of qualifying, the Team Yokomo star was the only driver to do 24 laps of the unforgiving US style track but the defending champion faced a stern challenge from Tamiya’s Marc Rheinard. Setting the TQ pace for a time Rheinard would post the second fastest time, just missing out on 24-laps, with TRF team-mate Viktor Wilck third. Fading light made for challenging conditions for the top modified drivers, Volker’s Yokomo team-mate Dominik Fleischmann who was fastest in the final practice particularly struggling in the difficult light.

fri_fleischmannhagb

Dominik Fleischmann pulled a surprise fastest 3-consecutive laps in the final practice at the Yokomo Euro Touring Series but thanks to a faster time in the first timed practice it is Ronald Volker who is the top seed for qualifying, the first of the four scheduled qualifiers taking place tonight at the fahr(T)raum hosted event in Mattsee, Austria. Volker tops 1st timed practice at ETS Mattsee

fri_volker
Following a 2-month break, in the first practice of the four round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series defending champion Ronald Volker made his intentions clear setting the fastest time from Serpent’s Marc Fisher. An all new event on the ETS calendar, the Yokomo driver looks to have got to grips rather quickly with the unique track in Mattsee, Austria, being over 1/2 a second faster than his rivals over 3-consecutive laps. Volker’s team-mate Yannic Prumper completed the Top 3 around the US boards style track that thankfully it was decided on Tuesday to cover with a very large marquee meaning the many heavy rain showers today have not interrupted proceedings.

Wu claims first Chinese 1:8 Offroad National title

Taiwanese driver Chin Yi Wu claimed his first 1:8 Offroad Chinese National title this morning at the Fengtai Raceway in Beijing.  This year’s single race Chinese Nationals was held alongside the FEMCA Championships which are being hosted for the first time in China at Beijing Model Sports Association’s all new facility.  Starting from 4th on the grid a good start saw Wu take his SH engines Z-Car to the front of the field early on from where he would lead through to the end of the 30-minute encounter.  It was a 1-2 result for the Z-Car and SH Engines with SH owner Lien Sheng Chang, who started third on the grid, taking second in the final minute of the race.  Driving a Sirio powered Team C buggy, Top Qualifier Wei Zhan completed the podium.  The Chinese driver was running second until he ran out of fuel at the 29-minute mark allowing Chang through to second.

Hara tops opening FEMCA Qualifier

Hara tops opening FEMCA Qualifier

Atsushi Hara, who only last Friday made the shock announcement that he was leaving HB, has taken the opening round of qualifying at the FEMCA 1:8 Offroad Championships in China.  Racing a Mugen, which the former World Champion went out and bought himself in a hobby shop in Thailand, the Japanese ace set the pace in the first of six 10-minute runs by just over 5-seconds from Korea’s Dani Choi and with Japanese Kyosho driver Dani Hiroki completing the Top 3 at Beijing Model Sports Association’s freshly built FT Offroad track.  With a difficult Visa procedure keeping defending Champion Kyle McBride away from contesting this year’s FEMCA Championship, the Far East’s equivalent of the EFRA European Championships, and thereby denying the Australian the opportunity to go for a third consecutive title, Hara’s TQ run endorses his status as pre-event favourite to take back the title he previously held.
