Timezone GP/Sven Boehringer Family Reunion – Report

The 9th Annual Timezone Grand Prix was held in Battleground, Washington at the world famous, “The Backyard” track. The event is now known as the Sven Boehringer Family Reunion Race named after Sven Boehringer, who touched the lives of countless racers and a dear friend to many, passed away last year. The event was held in his memory and is now perhaps the greatest race on earth with friends and family arriving from all over the world to attend this great race. Behind the organization of Ryan Newbury and the track/property owner, the St Cyr family, the event was a huge success selling out in just eight minutes after open registration. It was only four years ago when the entry count was just 75 and now it has grown to maximum capacity capped limit of 200. Just by word of mouth, it has become The Race to attend because of the unique, challenging track and amazingly relaxed atmosphere. There’s no race like it and from the words of Rick St Cyr, “The Woodstock of RC Racing”. It reminds us of what racing is supposed to be … friends, family, and most importantly fun.

Team EAM Hudy setup station acrylic holders

Team EAM have introduced acrylic holders for the Hudy setup stations for both touring car and 2WD on-road. The magnets in the base will keep the setup stands from falling over and keep them neat and organised on the pit table and they also sport a slot in the back for the toe plate. Dedicated milled-out pockets also hold the wheel nuts for both TCs and pan cars.

Lee Martin takes 2WD European Championship title

The 2017 EFRA 1/10th Off-road European Championships are held in Pinerolo, Italy this week. After completely dry qualifying for the 2WD Championship, showers before the finals presented a new conundrum for all the drivers. England’s Lee Martin started from pole with Riccardo Berton (Kyosho) a surprise 2nd for Italy. Leg 1 saw a textbook run from Lee winning with some ease, however in the 2nd leg the changing surface conditions and a lack of information about the progress of the race nearly caught out the Yokomo driver and he slowed one lap too early almost handing victory to Michal Orlowski, but a good piece of defensive driving saw Lee over the line to claim his 6th European championship The final leg saw a win for Schumacher and Poland’s Orlowski that enabled him to take the runner up spot in the championship. With soild runs, TLR’s Reno Savoya would round out the podium result.

Italian UISP Electric On-road Champs – Announcement

ASD Rivoli Racing and Treerremodellismo have announced the 2017 edition of the Italian UISP Electric On-road Championship for the 26th and 27th of August. The event is open to all drivers and will see Formula, Pan Car 1/10 Modified, Le Mans and, for the first time in Italy, GT12 classes. The circuit of Rivoli Veronese, located on the hills surrounding Verona, will play host to the event that is expected to draw sign-ins from several drivers across the country. JConcepts B6 front camber link mount bulkhead

JConcepts have introduced their new 2-piece front camber link mount bulkhead for the Team Associated B6 series of buggies. The 2-piece design incorporates durable material, looks and tuning into a single package. The front camber link mount sports all three popular mounting locations and features a blended design which connects to the front bulkhead forming a unique, stout package. The bulkhead itself has all the tricks. Starting from a small square of a aluminium, the part has been mastered into a pocketed, threaded and high-performance unit complete with 3mm threaded holes, anodising and laser etching. Joining the two pieces together blends the parts and creates the valley for the sway-bar location. The sway-bar area is compatible with standard AE hardware and optional sway bar kit. The aluminium camber link mount and bulkhead combined with the plastic AE suspension mount weigh in at about 28.5g without hardware making it a tuning adjustment and it can be mixed and matched with AE and JC parts to create a load of different weight bias settings.

Available in hump and straight pack configurations and coming pre-soldered with universal JR-type connectors the batteries will provide lots of runtime even with power hungry high-voltage servos and the straight pack also fits a range of transmitters.

Capricorn 1/10th & 1/12th pan car alloy rear axle

Capricorn have introduced a new aluminium rear axle for their Formula, 1/10th 200mm and forthcoming 1/12th scale pan cars. The axle shaft is machined from aluminium, additionally hardened and it sports a golden anodised surface while the diff plate shows excessive machining and a red surface treatment.

HB Racing D817 module 0.8 main gears & clutch bells

Coming from HB Racing and made for the D817 nitro off-road buggy are new module 0.8 main gears and suitable clutch bells. The somewhat finer module will result in overall improved drivetrain efficiency, equalling better acceleration, higher top speed and better mileage. Available now are 59T and 60T main gears as well as 16T and 17T clutch bells.
