Round 2 of the Irish 1/10th Offroad National Championships was held in Navan on the hottest day of the year with temperatures soaring to a high of 27 Degrees Celsius. The astroturf track has recently had a lot of work done to it and it is now smoother and more technical than ever. In the 2WD finals, William came from 3rd in the first two legs to win both taking the overall win while Derek finishing 2nd in the first two meant he would take 2nd overall. Alan Thomson would round out the top 3 result. In 4WD and starting from pole, William quickly broke away from the field in the first two legs to secure the 4WD win also – doing the double. Denzell and Dylan McBurney came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Thanks to William White for the report.

The 2017 Kyosho Masters were held in Sucy En Brie, France this past weekend. The annual event attracts Kyosho drivers from all over the World to race in several categories. 6-times winner, UK’s Elliott Boots was the pre-event favourite for the win in both the Elite Buggy and E-Buggy classes and he would not disappoint. Boots would get past pole position holder Joao Figueiredo in the opening stages and he controlled the race from there, taking his fourth straight win of the event some two laps in front of Sweden’s Jessica Palsson and Portugal’s Joao Figueiredo. In the E-Buggy class it was again Elliott who excelled and by sweeping the triple A-mains he grabbed his second title of the weekend from Jessica Palsson 2nd and Stephane Deroch 3rd.

In the end it was Pontos who took the TQ tie on points with Victor while Emil had to settle for 3rd after the qualifiers. The start of the main final held some difficulties for the TQ holder. Coming from the 3 spot on the grid he dropped down the field courtesy of some mishaps. Dropping down as low as 11th, Emil got his head down and already on lap seven he was back in 2nd again and after the first fuel stop he started to catch up to leader Victor Gunnarsson. The unfortunate Victor would make to big mistakes later that forced him to retire which made way for Pontus Larsson (Serpent) who would hold onto the lead for the remainder of the race to bring home the win some two laps in front of Alexander Castlind (Team Associated) while Pontus Magnusson (Kyosho) rounded out the top 3 result.
