Aaron Stringer takes maiden Australian Truggy title

The 2017 Australian 1/8th Off-road National Championships were held last weekend in Morphett Vale, South Australia with over 220 entries. In the 60-minute Nitro Truggy A-main top qualifier, Aaron Stringer and Kyle McBride would fight for the lead in the opening stages but a crash of McBride and following mechanical problems would give Stringer room to breathe. Behind him Andrew Foord, Alex Bernadzik and Josh Pain were in the mix for the remaining podium spots and while up front Aaron Stringer would bring home a maiden national title, Andrew Foord would snatch the runner-up spot from Josh Pain in third.

RPM Kraton & DEX8T front arm set

RPM have introduced an upper and lower front arm set for the ARRMA Kraton and Team Durango DEX8T trucks. Designed primary for strength and durability the arms offer a few extra features in as well. First is slop elimination. The A-arms reduce the amount of movement of the A-arm at the inner mounts, providing for better steering response and more consistent camber, caster and toe angle settings. Next improvement is the addition of a second shock mount hole further out on the arm, providing for a lower profile suspension set-up, allowing the shocks to lay down a little further, dropping the ride height for a lower center of gravity. As an added bonus, the front A-arms are roughly 10 percent lighter than stock while also being designed with leading and trailing 30 degree chamfered edges for smoother transitions over obstacles too tall for the suspension to clear. The arms fit the ARRMA Kraton, Talion and Outcast trucks as well as the Team Durango DEX8T and two sets are needed for a complete conversion.

O.S. Engines welcome Merlin Depta

O.S. Engines have announced the addition of Germany’s Merlin Depta to their factory team. The German frontrunner, multiple ENS finalist, EFRA vice-European Champion and long-time Picco driver will power his Serpent rides with O.S. Speed engines from now on and he has the following to say about the deal:

I want to use this opportunity to thank Picco for their support during the last years as they have been my very first engine sponsor. Changing the brand of probably the most important component of the car needs to be a good choice. When I came into contact with O.S. Engines I was very satisfied with power and even more important reliability during a run. The support is very professional and the contact with the engineers is at eye level.  It’s a great honor for me to line up in this world class factory team! Thanks to Mr. Yukami, Mr. Shimazaki and also Mr. Arata who made it possible!
