Capricorn Lab F1-01 aluminium bodymount plate

Following metal side spring mounts, Italian company Capricorn also have an aluminium front bodymount plate for the Lab F1-01 formula car available. The part was designed to reinforce the front wing and chassis section by sandwiching the wing mount in-between the plate and the chassis. This makes for a more sturdy and durable assembly in the event of a crash. Included comes suitable mounting hardware for the wing and bodypost.

Ehrbar joins Serpent in design & team manager role

Ehrbar joins Serpent in design & team manager role

Serpent have announced the addition of Germany’s David Ehrbar to their design team. David, a former engineer at a printing machine company, will get a full-time designer role at Serpent following a period of part-time work for the Dutch company. David will work closely together with Michael Salven on future on-road projects while also being the new team manager. In this role David will coordinate all Serpent team activities both on and off the track and he will be available track-side at future electric on-road events such as the ETS, the European and World Championships.

Capricorn have a new option part for the Lab F1-01 formula car available. The metal side spring mounts were designed to make tweak adjustments easier and more accurate. The CNC-machined knurled nut is equipped with a rubber O-ring to retain the chosen setting while the large diameter nut helps to easily and conveniently set the desired spring tension.

HPI RS4 Sport 3 2015 Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5

HPI Racing have introduced the brand new 2015 Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5 RS4 Sport 3. Resembling Vaughn Gittin Jr’s RTR Spec 5, the car is based on the RS4 Sport 3 4WD club-level chassis and it is decked out with a super realistic Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5 body and a set of replica HRE Tech 7 wheels. Under the hood, the 1/10th scale Mustang is equipped with a shaft driven 4WD chassis with a fully sealed drivetrain, fully independent double wishbone suspension with adjustable oil filled shocks, and waterproof 2.4 GHz electronics/radio gear. Also included in the package are four AA batteries for the transmitter, a 7.2V 2000mAh NiMH battery pack as well as a suitable wall charger.

Exotek TLR22 3.0 battery post & twist nut set

Exotek have introduced a battery post and twist nut set for the TLR22 3.0 buggy. The lightweight and secure design does away with the stock body clip system with the set including two machined aluminium posts, two knurled twist nuts as well as mini rubber O-rings that stop the twist nuts when tightened them down, to prevent the nuts from accidentally loosening.

6th Annual January Jam Race – Report

Flowood R/C Indoor Park hosted their 6th Annual January Jam Race with 200 entries from all over the US showing up to run in 13 classes. The layout was awesome and the track looked better after the race than it did during practice on Friday with the very unique layout giving both the 1/8 and 1/10 some of the best racing ever at FRC. The 1/8th Expert Nitro Buggy class had Jake Dellinger (Team Associated) taking the TQ and win from fellow Team Associated driver Josh Glancy with TLR’s Graham Gonzales rounding out the top 3 result.

Jose Martinez wins SOR Championship Rd1

Round 1 of the SOR Championship was held in Puerto Rico with over 100 racer from all over the country in attendance. In the Nitro Truggy class Jose Martinez took the TQ honours after the qualifiers and he would be able to conserve his qualifying performance in the main final, taking the win some two laps ahead of second place driver Alex Vasquez. Miguel Cotto would round out the top 3 result.

Kyosho Optima 4WD buggy re-release

Following a first teaser Kyosho have now officially introduced the Kyosho Optima 4WD buggy re-release. Redesigned by the original designer, the Optima has been carefully redeveloped from ground up to bring back the best of the buggies in the good old days and to offer a true fun to drive feel. The “2016” Optima is designed based on the original version released in the 1980’s, it features several updated areas without compromising parts compatibility with the original chassis. The upgrades and updates include 6061-T6 aluminium chassis material, the drivetrain can be build with the original chain or and optional belt drive, the diff gears are ball-raced, all gears are modern 48 pitch gears, and a slipper clutch allows the use of more powerful motors. The tyres offer a slightly modified tread and they are made using softer rubber and included in the kit is also all-hex hardware as well as two different front bumpers.
