Yokomo YD-4 1/10th drift car chassis kit

Yokomo YD-4 1/10th drift car chassis kit

Available soon from Yokomo is the all-new YD-4 1/10th scale 4WD drift car chassis kit. Designed by Matsuzaki Hayato the car builds on a low centre of gravity double deck carbon fibre chassis with enclosed shaft drivetrain and a special front motor layout. The steering servo, receiver and speed controller find their place in the centre to rear part of the chassis while the battery compartment for shorty or standard-type LiPos is placed in the front to centre part of the chassis. This very centralised weight distribution greatly improves drift angle stability and initial responsiveness of the car while a specially designed slide rack steering combined with a narrow scrub front king-pin angle allows for high steering angles of up to 55 degree with optimised Ackermann settings. Also included are highly rigid H-arms that further help to create large steering angles. Newly designed and 2mm lower differential cases allow the use of Drift Package Series diffs while the new position makes for an overall lower centre of gravity as do the low-profile carbon fibre shock towers with multiple shock mounting positions. Special spring cups allow the use of long-type shock springs for a sharp yet predictable driving performance. The kit, that will become available in January, is rounded out by a moulded rear diffusor.

JConcepts 17mm Fin Quick-Spin wrench

Following the 7mm Fin Quick-Spin wrench, JConcepts now also have a 17mm variant for 1/8th off-road wheel nuts available. The main structure of the design is aluminium and available in either blue or black anodised colours while the T-handle is constructed of steel with black oxide finish to provide the strength and muscle to the build. The tool is finished off with laser-etched size markings and JC logos.

Dimitriou wins Speed Hunters Rd1

Dimitriou wins Speed Hunters Rd1

The opening round of the Speed Hunters race was held at the Zorri RC track in Athens. The race format was a little bit different for the nitro class with two 20 minute qualifiers of which the best three consecutive laps counted toward the overall standings. The finals were then run in an electric format of triple 15 minute mains of which the best two counted. Xray driver Dimitris Dimitriou would set the early pace in the 200mm Nitro class and he took the overall TQ in front of Mugen racer Zacharopoulos and fellow Xray driver Papachristos. Dimitriou then would managed to take three easy tone-to-tone wins in the A-mains to grab the overall victory from Likaris (Xray) and Sogias (Serpent).

DKT MBX7R carbon fibre shock towers

DKT MBX7R carbon fibre shock towers

DKT have introduced new front and rear carbon fibre shock towers for the Mugen MBX7R 1/8th off-road buggy. The front tower is cut from 5mm carbon fibre for extra rigidity and durability while the rear 4mm variant offers additional upper mounting positions for the shock absorbers. The lightweight shock stays scrub around 40 percent of weight compared to the original alloy parts and they are available separately or as a combo set. Also new is the Shield Shock called front shock tower protector that improves the durability of the somewhat delicate upper section of the front shock tower as it reduces the chance of the carbon to crack, split or delaminate in the event of a crash. The shock tower protector is available in black and orange colour.

JConcepts 7mm Fin Quick-Spin wrench

JConcepts 7mm Fin Quick-Spin wrench

JConcepts have introduced their new 7mm Fin Quick-Spin wheel nut wrench. With the serrated locking wheel nuts of today the initial spin is always easy, however, once they start to lock, it’s important to have a T-handle to clinch against the wheel. The wrench is designed so a driver can quickly spin with the tip of the wrench in a conventional style and then move lower to the T-handle portion to lock into position. The main structure of the design is aluminium and available in either blue or black anodised colours to provide the look and feel to the wrench. The T-handle is constructed of steel with black oxide finish to provide the strength and muscle to the build.
