The 2015 Winter Series was held this past weekend on the island of Grand Canary. The temperature of 25 degrees made for perfect racing conditions and after the qualifiers it was Cristian Artiles who took the TQ. The semifinals went well for Cristian too as he was able to take the pole position for the 30 minute main that he later won some three laps ahead of Leandro Romano.

Still in its first year of operation, the new and improved Beach Hobbies of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina hosted the 2015 Palmetto Classic this past weekend. The event spanned two days of racing on 6000 square feet of Carolina clay. 179 entries tested their skills against one another on the technical yet fast layout and the surface itself remained very consistent with tons of traction throughout the festivities requiring little more than the occasional lap with the leaf blower. This allowed the race director Myssie Hanna to move through the four action-packed rounds of qualifying on Saturday and double A-mains on Sunday with great efficiency.

Sweep Racing introduce the Tendroid front tyre for 1/10th scale 2WD buggies. Offering a pretty unique design with a deep W-shaped inner tread and massive “android”-shaped outer portions the tyre is made especially for grooved track conditions. This year’s Japanese JMRCA 1/10th Electric Off-Road Nationals will be held from the 5th to 7th of June at the Yatabe Arena, host of the 2015 IFMAR 1/10th Electric Buggy World Championships. The Nationals will also act as the Warm-up for the Worlds in October and the entries for oversea drivers are now open here. The race, run on a purpose-built astroturf track, will see the use of the official Schumacher Worlds control tyres and inserts as listed below.

The 2015 Canadian Onroad Nationals were held last weekend at the Seaway Mall in Welland Ontario Canada. Over 250 entries from all over North America were in attendance to put on a show for the thousands of spectators that came through to watch over the course of the 3-day event that saw Touring Car, Canadian VTA, GT and Mini class racing. In the Modified Touring Car class it was a three way battle between Team Associated’s Kevin Hebert, Team Yokomo’s Andrew Hardman and Team Xray driver Paul Lemieux. Lemieux grabbed the TQ from Hebert in qualifying but in the final it was Hardman who found pace to take the win with a great drive.

Italian company Hot Race Tyres introduce pre-glued rubber tyres for 1/10th scale formula cars. Coming in a single compound for the front and rear the wheels are pre-glued using multi-spoke rims and they fit most of today’s formula chassis. The wheels will become available by the end of March.

Following his move to chassis sponsors ARC Germany’s Lars Hoppe now also has a new fuel supplier. Using Maxima fuel for his 2015 campaign the German frontrunner joins team mates like Jörn Neumann, Dirk Wischnewski, Kaja Novotny and Malin Karlsen.

The opening round of the Cyprian 1/8th National Nitro Buggy Series was held at the A.G. Metal Track in Limassol under perfect weather conditions and on a challenging track. The 40 minute A-main saw the lead swapping several times and in the end Marios Christodoulou brought home the win from Nicholas Zachariades in 2nd and Simos Tikkis in 3rd.
