Yokomo BD7 2014 aluminium main chassis

Yokomo BD7 2014 aluminium main chassis

After a recent brief introduction Yokomo now have more information about their forthcoming aluminium main chassis for the BD7 touring car available. “I wanted to create an aluminum chassis that would perform excellently on both carpet and asphalt surfaces”, Yukijiro Umino, the chief designer of the BD7 2014, explains. To achieve this the 2.0mm chassis is machined from especial grade 7075 aluminium that, in combination with a new shape, makes for increased overall performance on both asphalt and carpet tracks. The black anodised chassis also features milled edges for looks and smoother cornering. Performance wise the rigidness of the aluminium reduces traction roll on high-grip carpet tracks to allow for more aggressive setups while on asphalt, the chassis’ stiffness contributes to the overall stability, improving the handling characteristics of the car. There is no official release date yet but we understand that the alloy chassis will become available very soon.

Pro-Line MBX-7 Phantom bodyshell

Pro-Line MBX-7 Phantom bodyshell

Seen in teaser form only days ago Pro-Line now officially introduce the Phantom design bodyshell for the Mugen MBX-7 buggy. Making use of the distinctive design elements first seen on the 1/10th buggy Phantom bodies, the 1/8th scale variant again makes use of an aggressively styled cabin and a flowing rear section that culminates in a single point in front of the shock tower. An optional add-on rear fin helps with straight-line stability both at highspeed and while jumping. The body is meant to make a first public appearance at this week’s ROAR Gas Offroad Nationals in Texas. Red RC is on site with a full coverage that can be found by clicking here.

JConcepts B5 series Ti knurl tip front axle

JConcepts B5 series Ti knurl tip front axle

New from JConcepts comes the knurl tip front axle for the Team Associated B5 line of buggies. Eliminating around 38 percent of weight compared to the kit’s steel axle thanks to the design and titanium material used, the JConcepts axle make for less unsprung weight and thus quicker steering response and improved on-track performance. The design also incorporates a knurled axle tip to give the mechanic a grippy place to rest a finger so the front tire doesn’t rotate easily during changes making the process quicker and with less frustration. The design also eliminates screws and other items which are hard to inspect for issues which limit performance and add additional weight.

Jeremy Potter wins E-Buggy at NW Buggy champs

This past weekend Tri-Cities RC held the Northwest Buggy Championships in Pasco, Washington. In the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, Tekin team mates Jeremy Potter and Nick Buechler would fight hard in the 3 rounds of qualifying to start 2nd, Potter, and 3rd, Buechler, on the grid for the triple A-Mains. In A1 Potter and Nick would engage in a 3-way battle for the lead, halfway thru the main Potter would pull away from the rest for the A1 win, with Buechler locking down 2nd. In A2, once again Potter and Buechler would jump out front early on where Potter would never look back. Buechler would have a couple rough laps to finish out in 8th. In A3 with Potter on the sidelines already wrapping up the overall, Buechler would jump to the lead by the 2nd corner, but a mechanical issue would end his run where he would have to settle for a 6th overall. Team Associated’s Chris Nealeigh would take the win in A3 and 2nd overall with Brian Munn rounding out the podium in 3rd.
