2012 Canadian Off-Road Championships

The weather was perfect for the second annual Canadian Off-Road Champions hosted by Dynamic Hobbies and Sutton Aviation. Drivers from around the world came to the Canadian Capitol for one of the best races of the year for electric off-road. They boasted almost 300 entries with drivers like Lee Martin, the current European Champion, Tom Cockerill from UK, Scott Brown from the US and Michael Schoettler also from the US. Team Associated Scott Brown and Michael Scheottler set the early pace in the practice heats in all five classes they entered, 2WD Modified, Truck Modified, 4WD Modified, 2WD Short Course, and 4WD Short Course. With the tent covering the track it made the conditions extremely consistent. After qualifying Schoettler took the top spot in Truck Modified and 2nd behind Lee Martin in 2WD along with a 3rd in 4WD. Scott Brown found himself on top in both Short Course classes.

Ryan Dunford wins 2012 Short Course Nationals

The 2012 Short Course Nationals again hosted at RC Madness in Enfield, Ct had over 300+ entries this past weekend and the word of the day was ‘hot’ during qualifying. High temps and big time humidity would make for a long day with everyone ducking for a bit of shade where they could. This race has been plagued by the weather in the past. Unfortunately this year would be no different. After all rounds of qualifying TLR’s Ryan Dunford would TQ 4WP Pro 4 SC and would get yet another TQ in the 2WD Pro 2 SC class. Weather would dominate the mains though not allowing any competitor to run their mains. So qualifying order would end up being finishing order as well.

Intech BR-6 buggy announced

Intech have just announced the BR-6 1/8th nitro off-road buggy. The successor of the BR-5 kit features many refinements compared to the previous kit in the form of redesigned carbon fibre shock towers, upper steering plate and steering brace, all of which replacing the aluminium parts seen on the BR-5. Also the radio tray received a major make-over as with the BR-6 the battery box is placed in a forward position, a common sight on many of the current nitro buggies. Other new parts include composite plastic chassis braces, updated shock absorbers, centre universal shafts and drive train parts.

Torsten Müller wins South Germany Champs

The last round of the South German 1/8th on-road championships took place at the Bamberg track. The 21 drivers started with practice on Saturday morning and the first round of qualifiers began just after the lunch break. The challenging track with fast corners called for a special tyre strategy in the 30 minutes long final with the better end for Oliver Lambeck after Maximilian Günther suffered engine damage. Second place went to Torsten Müller with Armin Baier in third. The runner up spot gave Torsten the South German championship title and after a successful season he also is one of the hot candidates for the German Champs that will take place in Dormagen later this summer.
