Redcat Racing Camo TT & X4 PR RTR kits

As part of their new Summer 2018 line-up Redcat Racing have introduced the Camo TT trophy truck and Camo X4 rock racer 1/10th scale RTR vehicles. The Camo line utilises a new chassis design that offers the realistic driving characteristics of a full sized desert racer thanks to its 4-link suspended, solid rear axle and independent front suspension for a true desert and rock racing experience. The Camo TT and X4 are ready to run once owners supply the required batteries and charger and they are 2S LiPo-ready. The Camo was designed to be an all around great performer, as well as a stunning display piece while not in use. The TT’s realistic cockpit seats a driver and navigator, strapped in safely, with the spare tire captured inside the realistic roll-cage directly behind them. The scale body design allows the roll-cage to be seen as the Camo TT screams across the desert terrain while the X4 sports a full roll cage, and a detailed cockpit with scale driver and navigator. Additional scale details, like the fire extinguisher, round off the X4’s scale appearance. The aggressive off-road tyres grip the toughest terrain, and look awesome doing it. The unique horizontal tread design work well on both loose and hard surfaces alike. Both vehicles will hit stores this August.

Joona Haatanen crowned European Junior Champion

Every year, Europe’s finest gather for the ultimate 1:8th nitro showdown, better known as the EFRA 1/8th European Championships. This year, the CRF track in Freixedas, Portugal played host to offer its challenging yet extremely fun layout to decide the victor and crown a new European Champion. The CRF track is quite unique and extremely beautiful to look at. Some call it a work of art and in many ways, it does live up to the hype. The white dirt is sealed with a glue/bonding agent to help keep the track together. The result is a very hard surface that’s almost like sandpaper. However, the weight and sheer force of the 8th scale cars hitting the jumps, the faces would get massively deformed and practically unjumpable. The track crew worked hard each night as they patched the track with cement that’s rolled onsite. While Xray’s Bruno Coelho took a surprise win in the main final, the Junior finals saw Europe’s brightest stars battle it out for top honors with Team Associated’s Joona Haatanen peaking at the right moment. In the young field of talent, Joona’s precision started to shine as the track picked up grip and his motor, car tuning, and driving all coming together for the main where he was able to win with a decent time margin back to 2nd. Leonardo Valente finished 2nd with Kyosho’s Jessica Palsson 3rd.

Martin Christensen wins at Nordic Championships

The 2018 Nordic Championships were held in Lidkobing, Sweden in several 1/10th, 1/8th and 1/5th scale classes. The track is part of a huge full-scale motorsports centre and in combination with the hot summer weather it made for excellent conditions for all participants. In the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring class it was Markus Elmerfors who took the overall TQ from Georg Ellingesen. The semi-finals were held under the treat of rain and indeed the heaven opened during the semifinal B with a big thunderstorm. The re-run would take place under the rain and this is what would stop then-leader Claus on lap 12 as his car’s receiver stopped working due to the water. As many other driver opted to not attend, Claus was still able to take the final spot on the grid for the A-main event. The 45-minute main final was held on Sunday and in good weather conditions. As the track was very hard on the tyres the pit strategy would play a major role and after a turbulent start to the race with lots of mistakes of the drivers and also some penalties, the drivers would get into swing and ultimately it was Martin Christensen with the win from single tyre-stopper Claus Ryeskov as Mattis Jargren rounded out the top 3 results.
